Section A
本单元的主题是有关于邀请。它主要教授学生如何发出以及回复邀请,尤其是拒绝别人的邀请。与我们的日常生活息息相关,所以可以充分调动学生的学习兴趣。

1、熟记并会用本课所学的新词汇;
2、学会发出邀请以及接受或拒绝邀请,并表明原因;
3、掌握情态动词can的用法。

运用推测等阅读技巧,scanning等阅读策略,进行阅读训练,提高阅读水平。
【情感目标】
通过本节的学习,让学生知道如何接受及礼貌的拒绝别人的邀请。这会培养学生良好的言行举止。
【教学重点】
1、词汇:prepare, prepare for, available, until, hang, hang out, invite, accept, refuse, reply, catch, another time,
2、句型:Can you come to my party on Saturday afternoon?

Sorry, I can’t. I have to go to the doctor.
【教学难点】
提高学生的听说读写能力,以及掌握情态动词can用来提出邀请的用法。
教学过程
Step1. Warm up
1. Greet the class and introduce what to learn in this period.
2. Ask Ss several questions:
Q: Can you swim?
Ss: Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
Q: Can you play football?
Ss: Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
T: Tonight, I will have a party. Can you come to my party?
If Ss can come to my party, teach them “Sure, I’d love to”. If they can’t, teach them “Sorry, I can’t. I have to...”
3. Vocabulary
T: If you refuse others’ invitation, you must have some reasons.
Show Ss some pictures and teach them the new phrases.
Sentences
Ask Ss the question “Can you come to my party?”, and let them give me positive and negative replies according to the pictures.
Step 2 Presentation
1. 1a
Get Ss to read the phrases for several times until most of them can pronounce them correctly.
Then ask them to match the phrases with the pictures.
Check the answers by asking Ss to point to the picture and tell the answers.
2. 1b
Show Ss the four names and teach them to read correctly.
Play the tape and ask Ss to find out the right people.
Then, check the answers.
3. 1c
Divide Ss into groups (four for each group) to make conversations. Finally, invite several groups to act out for the class.
Step 3 Practice
1. 2a
Tell Ss there are five conversations. In each conversation the person says that they can or can’t come to the party. Listen carefully and circle the words.
Play the tape. Then check the answers.
2. 2b
Ask Ss to listen to the recording again to find out why they won’t go to the party. Complete the chart.
Play the recording again. Then check the answers.
3. 2c
Ask Ss if they can give other reasons besides the lists in Activity 2b. Add more.
Then, make conversations with partners to invite and refuse. Give them enough time to do this task. Later, invite several pairs to present their conversations to the class.
Step 4 Consolidation
1. 2d
First, ask Ss to have a fast reading of the conversation to get the main idea.
Then, lead Ss to read the conversation sentence by sentence, explain some language points.
Finally, divide Ss into pairs to practice role-playing the conversation.
Grammar focus
First, lead Ss to read the sentences.
Then, prompt Ss to analyze the use of model verb can. After that, explain the grammar together.
3.3a
Ask Ss to complete the answers with might and the phrases in the box.
Then, invite some Ss to present their answers.
4. 3b
Give Ss several minutes to write sentences using the words given in the brackets.
Then, invite some Ss to present their sentences.
