You are familiar with adjectives (adj.), but today we will use nouns (n.) to describe things!Similes and MetaphorsSimiles and Metaphors are ways to compare (比较). We use them to say different things are alike!
“She is beautiful.” (But how beautiful?)Simile “She is beautiful, like a flower.”
Metaphor “She is a flower.”What are we comparing?
The girl and the flower! They are both beautiful!SimileTell me some adjectives…
Now use them in a sentence, using a simile!Eg:
Adjective : Strong
He is strong, like a lion.What are we comparing? The boy and the lion!MetaphorsMetaphors are a similar sentence, but you do not say “like” ’. Eg.
Adjective: Strong
Simile “She is strong, like a lion.”
Metaphor “She is a lion.”Metaphors and Similes…everywhere!“Your love is like a red red rose.”

How? We see things in a new way, and we think it is new and uncommon! -- This water is great.

They use advertisements to try to sell things. What is being compared (比较 )?
“If you drink this, you will v./ adj. , like a n. .”This ad. is comparing____ and____.
Look at this advertisement.

Finish the sentence If you drive this car you will be handsome like _____.
If you eat this food you will be tall like_____.
If you use this mobile phone you will be popular like ____.

It can be anything!
It can be big (a company’s services)
or it can be small (a pen).Sell it to the class!
Use metaphors and similes! Be creative (有创造的)
You can use words, act, or draw a poster with pictures!
