*To introduce the main topic of the unit
*To learn some basic vocabulary to talk about clothes and materials
Teaching procedures
Step1 Revise relevant vocabulary learned so far. You could include words which describe costumes from unit 3, and also vocabulary covered in the units of this module, particularly unit 5
Step2 Introduce the topic with the help of a well-known fashion magazine, pictures and fashion/designer labels. Put pictures of different fashion items on the board.
Step3 Write the topic ‘fashion’ in larger letters. Elicit from students the names of the different items and write them on the board. Do a quick class survey. Ask What is your favorite fashion? Students respond My favorite fashion is… Write a model of the question and answer on the board, together with the names of different items. Try to do this task in groups of about five so that students get an opportunity to talk. Write a grid of all the fashion types on the board and ask students to count preferences. Then bring the results together on the board.
Step4 Do a quick count of class opinion. Ask Are you interested in fashion? Write the results on the board.
Step5 Introduce the task. Make it as exciting as possible using any interest that has been aroused by the fashion magazine, pictures and designer labels.
Step6 Ask students to do Part A. Encourage stronger classes to draw more clothing items and label them. Students could draw themselves with their own favorite fashion items( black leather boots, jeans, trainers, T-shirt, leather jacket, etc.)
Step7 Check the correct meanings of different clothing items. Call out the names of the clothing items in a different order. Ask students to call out the number of the clothing items you said. Ask students to repeat after you, imitating your pronunciation.
Step8 Ask students to do Part B. Ask them to guess the meanings of the words on their own. Check for understanding.
Step 6 Homework Do some exercises.

Step 1.Presentation:
1 Revise the dialogues:

Ask some groups to act out their dialogue.
2 Free talk: My pocket money
Step 2 Presentation :
1. The teacher takes out an apple and say: I eat an apple every day. Write it on the Bb
2. the teacher do an action and say: I am eating an apple. Write it on the Bb too.
3. Repeat with other things. Let the students find the differences between these groups of sentences.
4. Tell them the form of the present continuous tense: Be +Ving
Step 3 Practice:
1. Ask the students to do some actions, the teacher asks:
What are you doing? Help the students answer: I’m …
2. Let the students practice in pairs. Ask some groups to act out their dialogues.
Step 4 Presentation:
Ask some students to the front of the classroom and do some actions, ask the other students: What’s he/she doing?
Help the other students answer He/She is …
2. Let the students discuss how to form the “-ing” form of a verb. Check their answers.
3. The form of the “-ing” form of the verb:
Most verbs + ing
Verbs ending in a silent e _e+ ing
Verbs ending in ie -ie+y+ ing
Some verbsending in a vowel +a consonant
Double the consonant + ing
Step 5 Exercise
Write the form of the “-ing” of some words.
Step 6 Presentation
The teacher give the students some examples to show how to form the negative and the present questions of the present continuous tense.
Do some exercises about this.,
Step 7 Exercise
Let the students finish the exercises on page 80-83, check their answers.
Homework
Remember the Grammar they have learned.
Make a dialogue in pairs using the Present continuous tense.

Teaching aims and learning objectives:
The students will be able to:
1. know some useful expressions
2. learn to talk about the clothes and materials.
3. improve the abilities of listening and speaking.
Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty
1. To talk about the different materials for making clothes.
2. To learn how to obtain and consolidate information from listening.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead in
1. Brain storm: Let students to say the names of clothes they know.
2. Free talk: Talk about the clothes I am wearing today. Ask one of the students to the front,make students say his/her clothes out.And then ask students to talk about their clothes and their partners’ clothes.
Step 2 General listening
1. Predict: Before listening, get familiar with the clothes. Ask students to predicate what Sandy and her mum are going to wear.The teacher will say: Here are some clothes.Can you guess what are for Sandy,and what are for Sandy’s mother?
2. Listen to the conversation for the first time, and ask one student to do Part A1 on the board.
3. Listen to the conversation again, and ask another student to do Part A2 on the board.
Then check the answers.
Step 3 Further listening
1. Ask students to listen to the conversation with the following questions
1)?? What is Sandy going to do?
2)?? What is Sandy’s mum going to do?
2. Ask students to listen to the first part of the tape carefully, and pay attention to the question: What is Sandy going to wear? Are these clothes suitable for the trip?
3. Listen to the second part of the tape carefully, and pay attention to the question: What is Sandy’s mum going to wear? Are they suitable for the dinner party?
4. Work in pairs: ask students to retell.
Step 4 Finish Part A3.
1. Ask two students to complete the diary.
2. Read the diary by themselves and answer the following questions:
1)??What’s Sandy’s mum’s blouse made of?
2)??What are her shoes made of?
Step 5 Speak up
1.??Look at the pictures and talk about the clothes and the materials by using the sentences: “What is/are … made of?” and “It’s/They’re made of….”
2.??Listen and read the conversation.
3. Practice: make students talk about their clothes by asking questions like this:
What is/are your…made of?
It’s/They are made of…?
Show the words of materials on the board.
Introduce the word chemical fiber to the students.
Step 6 Game time
Be a good designer. Please design the clothes for them.
Task 1: XXX will go on a school trip to Yandu Park. Can you give him some advice on what to wear?
Task 2: XXX’s mother is going to a New Year celebrating party. Please design the clothes for her.
Task 3: Eddie wants to go to a wedding next month. What can he wear?

Step 1:Revision and presentation:
1. Free talk::Star Shopping Mall/ Spring Land Shopping Mall
2. Review the dialogue of comic strip.
3. Teach the students how to get information by reading something.
4. Tell the students: The Class 1, Grade 7 students gave a fashion show and they wanted to raise money for Project Hope. We have different fashions in different periods. Write a list of fashion articles and adjectives.
5. In groups, the students think of as many fashion items and adjectives to describe them. It costs five minutes.
6. Ask more students to find the new words listed in the passage and work out the meanings form the context. After next, review the words.
Step 2 Learning
1. Write some headings on the blackboard and ask the students to locate the information in the passage.

2. Encourage the students to raise questions they have either in meanings or grammar. Explain something important.

Step 4 Practice
1. Part B. In groups of four, the students look at the sentences, they have the game to see who can complete the task in the shortest time in the given time of two minutes. The group that finishes first read out their answers and the others decide whether they are right or not.
2. Part C1.Explain the instructions for Part C1 carefully. Revise the names of clothing items first. Ask them to do Part C1 and check answers as a whole.
3. Part C2.Ask the students to do Part C2 and write out correct sentences for those that are false.
4. Part D. Ask the students to do this part and at a time a student read a speech bubble.

Step 1.Presentation:
T: We have learnt so much information about fashion clothes recently. Today let’s make a ‘Fashion Wall’. I hope everyone can design clothes and make a poster to give information about the style,colour and material of the clothes.
T:You can use Simon’s poster as a model. First,please look at his plan and sketches. Then tell me about his design and answer the following question:
1.What are the clothes?
2.What are their colours?
3.What are they made of?
Ask the students complete Part B on page 104.
Step 2 Practise:
1.Ask the students to take out the pictures and show some nice and typical ones to the students. Let the students discuss these pictures such as its style,colour,quality,the proper place to wear,etc.
2.Ask the students write their own poster according to Simaon’s poster. They can discuss or ask the teacher for help.
3.Exchange the posters with the partner.
4.Draw some pictures to make the posters more lively.
5.Pick out the excellent ones and put them on the Fashion Wall.
