Character puppetsSteps:
1. The teacher should introduce herself first: Good morning, I am Miki. And then ask the Ss if they had English names. Teach them to say: Good morning, I am …
2. Ask them to say: Hello and Hi to their classmate and introduce himself or herself: Hello, I am …
3. Show the pictures to them, ask them say hi and hello to all the animals they know. And teach them to say Good morning and Good afternoon when greeting people.
4. Show them the song and let them sing together.
5. Game
Show them words A to Z. Ask 5 Ss come out per time and let them choose one word and let other Ss remember all the five Ss’s words. And them have to go out the classroom, and when they come back, the rest of the Ss have to speak out with words the S choose and say hi to her or him. And the Ss who came out have to speak to all the Ss :Hi ,I am A. or I am B and so on.
6. Teach them the song again if have time.

Step3: Have the Students do “Listen and tick” on Workbook page3.Then check the answers. Have them act out the short dialogues.
Step4: Have the Ss listen to the recording of “let’s play” and repeat after it.
Step5: Ask the Ss to do “Listen and number” on Workbook page 2.
Step6: Divide the students into four groups and do “look and say” and “Draw and say” on Workbook page 4. Then select several groups to act out the short dialogues.
Step7: Have the students do Task “Make new friends” on Workbook page 5. And then listen to the song “Good morning” again while walk round the classroom. When the music stops, they should find a friend and introduce themselves to each other.

本单元是小学生学习英语的起始单元。小学生对学习英语大多怀有好奇、兴奋、期待的心情。英语学习的起始阶段,教师应在帮助学习进行知识积累的同时,特别重视激发和保护学生学习英语的热情,培养学习运用所学英语进行交际的意识和勇气。本着这一宗旨,本单元安排了“自我介绍”和“询问对方姓名”的功能项目,并在词汇教学中,选择了较易激起小学生学习兴趣的动物类单词。这样安排有助于消除学生学习新语言的焦虑心理。进而激发学生参与教学的热情和信心。
