【教学步骤和建议】
（一）Warming-up
1.Greetings.
T: Good morning class.
S: Good morning teacher.
T：(举起一张加拿大国旗的图片，指着红叶)What is this? Do people speak French and English in Canada? Do people speak English in Canada?
S: …
T: The world is a big place. We know about China, our home. We know about Canada. But what’s that big country next to Canada? Well，let’s open our books and find out now.
2. PPT2
先展示一些关于美国的图片，图片播放完后出示the U.S.这个单词。播放美国的国歌这首歌曲。
歌词如下：
Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light.
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight.
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?

（二）Presentation
1. PPT3
教师用此张PPT告诉学生一些关于美国名字的一些小知识。
（设计思路：让学生增长知识，开阔眼界。）
PPT4-PPT8教授本课的单词和词组。
（1）教师出示PPT4，出示一张美国小男孩的图片，问：Where is he from? 然后回答：He is from the U.S. 来学习the U.S.这个词汇。
（2）教师出示PPT5，出示一张美国地图，出示问句：What is this? 引导学生回答：This is a map of the U.S. 学习of这个单词。
（3）教师出示PPT6，出示一张星星的动态图片，再出示star这个单词，教授这个单词的拼读。
（4）教师出示PPT7，出示一张很多星星的动态图片，然后出示句子：There are many stars in the sky. 巩固star这个单词。
（设计思路：通过用PPT学习单词，展示动画及视频，色彩鲜明，画面生动，可以增加学生学习英语的积极性，增强学习兴趣。）
2. PPT8- PPT11：这四张PPT旨在对新授课中的重点句子进行提示和学习。
（1）教师出示PPT8，出示课文中的句子：What country is next to the U.S.?来讲解next to的意思以及用法。同时告诉学生美国与加拿大相邻。
（2）教师出示PPT9， 出示一张美国孩子手举美国国旗的图片。然后出示句子：They speak English in the U.S. 用此句话来表明美国的官方语言。
（3）教师出示PPT10，出示华盛顿城市局部的图片，指出Washington，D.C.是美国的首都，并指导学生读这个单词。出示句子：Washington，D.C. is the capital city of the U.S.
（4）教师出示PPT11，出示美国国旗的图片，先让学生说出它的颜色以及国旗中的图案，再出示句子：This is the flag of the U.S. It is red, white and blue. It has stars and stripes.
（设计思路：在情景中学习语言知识，既巩固了句型，又避免了大量机械操练还给学生的疲劳感，让学生始终处于兴奋状态。并且将句型和单词充分结合起来，有助于提高学生的语言实践能力。提前讲解课文中的重点句子，可以帮助学生在听本课音频的时候理解课文。）
3.呈现课文。
（1） 教师出示PPT12，展示关于美国的图片，播放课文第一部分的音频，让学生听课文，了解课文内容。
（2）听完课文内容后，让同学们打开书，自读课文，教师巡视，纠正学生的错误读音。
（3）教师出示PPT13，就美国国旗的颜色来进行考查。

（设计思路：通过这个练习，可以了解学生对课文内容的掌握情况，以便针对性的查漏补缺。）
4.教师出示PPT16-PPT20，进行课文第二部分的学习。
（1）教师出示PPT16，先列出与本课相关的名胜古迹的图片，先说出这两个地点的汉语名称，再教授它们的英语发音。
（2）教师出示PPT17，用动画出示两个名胜古迹的图片，然后再让学生听本部分音频。
（3）听完音频后，让学生自读课文，并把课文翻译写在课本上。教师巡视检查，解决学生的疑难问题。
（4）教师出示PPT18，就the White House来进行考查。

(设计思路：这个环节不仅会用到本课所学的短语，复习了本节课内容，还对所学内容进行了拓展，培养了学生综合语言运用能力。)
