Step1 warming up
1. Greet students.
2. Ask students to check words with his or her partner.
3. Enjoy a video about life now and then，answer the question “From which part is it comparing?”
Step 2 Listening
1. Ask students to listen to the dialogue, and answer the following questions.

2). Which of the following are they comparing?

2. Ask students to listen to the dialogue again, and answer the questions.

Step 3 Reading after listening
1. Ask students to read the dialogue loudly, and find all the sentences with comparative forms.
2. Ask some students to read out the sentences they have found. If possible, ask other students to add.
3. Ask students to read the sentences the teacher chose on the screen, and try to memorize them.
4. Check whether students grasp the sentences, ask several students to check by giving them the Chinese meanings.
5. Summarize the rules of the comparative forms.
Step 4 Speaking after reading
Ask students to work in pairs, ask and answer questions using the following pattern.
Is life better today than in the past?
Yes, it is. I think it’s because… (No, it isn’t. I think it’s because…)
Ask several pairs to present.
Have a debate. Divide the students into two big groups. One group supports that life is better today while the other supports life is worse.
Have the students to work in groups, list as many sentences as possible to support their idea, using the pattern “I think life is better/worse because…”

Summarize what we have learned today.
