Feelings and attitudes objectives: With different activities, students can well experience fun of team work and further understand their facial features.
3学情分析
Students: Class 1 Grade 4, which consists of 24 boys and 20 girls. Among them, there is a boy with intelligence disability. They have learned English for one year. So, they can understand easy words and sentences with gesture.
4重点难点
Difficulties and key points
key points: Handwriting, pronunciation and usage of new words.
Difficulties: the pronunciation of the word “mouth”. Single and plural usage of words like eye, ear.

活动1【导入】Lead-in
Step 1. Lead-in(8 minutes)
Greeting with students and ask them to play Jigsaw puzzle of a Joker’s face and bring out the topic of lesson.
T: Class begins. Good morning, boys and girls.
Ss: Good morning, Miss Zhou.
T: OK, sit down please.
Ss: Thank you, Miss Zhou.
T: First, look at this picture. What’s this
Ss: 拼图。
T: That’s right. I know most of you like jigsaw puzzle, right
Ss: Yes.
T: That’s why you are so clever. We all know jigsaw puzzle is a game that benefits for brain. There are pieces on your desk. Now I want to check, are you ready
Ss: Yes.
T: OK, good. Let’s begin. (watch, guide and comment)
T: Each group have done a good job in a short time. Especially group 3 is the first one to finish. So, there is a reward for them.
Ss: Wow. Thank you, Miss Zhou.
T: You are so clever. And come on, other groups. So, did you find what were missing when you played jigsaw puzzle.
Ss: Face, eye, nose, ear, mouth, hair.
T: Very good. All of these constitutes Joker’s face. Very funny. That’s what we are going to learn today.

Purpose: By designing the lead-in, the class atmosphere is well be mobilized and students’ interests and curiosity are inspired. It’s good for the cooperation between teachers and students in the next parts.
活动2【讲授】Presentation
Step 2. Presentation(10minutes)
a) Play a video of facial features, ask students to give special attention to the pronunciation of face, eye, nose, hair, ear, and mouth when watching.
b) Teach new words one by one.
T: Now, look at the screen. Let’s watch a video.
T: OK, does anyone remember the pronunciation of facial features in the video. Put up your hands and tell me. You, please.
S1: 鼻子是nose.
S2: 脸是face.
T: Very good. Anyone else No,That's OK. Let's learn one by one. First one, what's this
Ss: Face/脸。

T: The most difficult word comes. If you want to have a good pronunciation of this word, you first have to pronounce “th” in a right way. Look at my mouth and listen carefully.

T: The last one. Hair, hair.

T: Now, you remember how to read these words
Ss: Yes.
T: OK, let’s go on.
Purpose: By showing video in the screen to let student concentrate on. It’s easy for students to connect the video with new words. Learning of pronunciation contributes to next parts.
活动3【活动】Practice
Step 3. Practice(10 minutes)
Teacher say commands" touch your..."and students do actions.
T: Does everybody want to play a games.
Ss: Yeah.
T: OK. Listen carefully. When I say touch your face, you should use your hand to touch your face quickly. Understand Ready
Ss: Yes. We're ready.
T: Round one, one student each time. Tang Hongjie, please. Touch your hair.
S2: Miss Zhou, I know.
T: OK. You please.

T: Everyone has done a good job, how about one group Just fight for your e on.
Ss: Miss Zhou. Can we have a try
T: Sure, please. Touch your face.
T: Group 5, touch your nose.

T: Boys and girls, you all had a great fun during the game. So, do you want another game

Purpose: The game designed in this step is to deepen the understanding of the new words.
活动4【测试】 Production and Consolidation
Step 4. Production(7minutes)
Distribute pictures to each group. When I say an English word, the whole group should find out the picture and say the word loudly.
T: The last game needs team work. That is to say, When I say an English word, the whole group should find out the picture and say the word loudly. Which group is faster, they can get point.

Purpose: In order to let students know that students not only experience the fun but apply the new knowledge together during the game.
Step 5. Consolidation (7 minutes)
Ask students to describe the Joker 's friend by using new sentences and new words.
T: You see, this is Joker's friend. Can you describe him using news and sentences. Who can have a try

Purpose: Students apply what they have learned in life.
活动5【作业】Optional activities and Homework
a) Optional activities: Show pictures I prepared before. When I show the picture students must say the English word immediately(group together or one student of each group).Also, touch the body part when saying.
b) Homework: 1. Copy new words five times.2. Describe one person using what we have learned today(anyone is OK). 3. Make up new song in page 13 and try to sing it out.
(between 2 and 3,you can choose one or both two)
T: What a pity, time is limited. There is homework for you to choose. If you don’t understand, just let me know after class.
Ss: OK.

Purpose: Students can choose homework freely according to their levels.
