Teaching procedures:
Ⅰ. Warm-up (presentation)
Ask the students on duty to give us a short report about the Sunshine Town.
Ⅱ. Listening
1. Listen to the tape, answer my question, “Did Hobo, in fact, know the way?” Help the Ss to answer.
2. Listen again, Ss read after the tape recorder, then do some True or False exercises. Check the answers with the whole class.

A Using a, an and the
Step Ⅰ Free talk
What’s this? It’s a book.
Whose book is it? It’s…’s.
Write the sentences on the blackboard: It’s a book. The book is…’s.
Make sentences
eg: This is an apple. The apple is big and red.
Step ⅡPresentation
We use a or an when we mention a person or thing for the first time. We use the before a noun when the person or thing is mentioned again, or when we are talking about a specific person or thing.
Show some pictures and ask students to say something about the pictures:
This is a Panda House. We can see some pandas.
Look, here is panda. The panda is eating bamboo.
Here’s a panda too. What’s the panda doing? (The panda is lying on the grass.)
Here is a baby panda. How cute! It’s so small. But the baby panda doesn’t look like its mother.

Pair work
Have a free talk with your partner, try to use a, an and the.
Finish these sentences with “a, an, the”.

Ask students to complete the conversation with “a, an, the”. Then check the answers.
Read and act out the conversation.
B Prepositions of place
Step ⅠPresentation
Introduce some prepositions of place.
Eg: I often stand in front of you. Where is … sit?
She sits between A and B. She sits in front of C, and C sits behind her.
Ask and answer, try to make students answer with “inside , outside, beside, next to, left and right”.
Teacher says: Look, we have some lights. The lights are above us. We have some books here. The books are on the teacher’s desk. We have a national flag. It’s over the blackboard.
(Make sure that students can use these words correctly.)
Read the sentences on Page 48. Then make a simple dialogue.
Sample conversation:
S1: Where do you sit?
S2: I sit in front of…
I sit between…and…
I sit next to…
S1: I sit beside…
I sit behind…
Tell other students where you sit.
Step Ⅱpractice
In the park
Sandy goes to the park every weekend. Look at the picture and tell me what you can see in it.

Where’s the…? Is it far from our school? How do you get there?
Show some maps, ask and answer questions.
Step ⅡPresentation
We are going to visit Sunshine Zoo today, what can we see in the zoo?
Show a picture of pandas and say: Look, what are they? Pandas. They’re very cute. Where do pandas live in the zoo? What do they like to eat? (They live in the panda house, and they like to eat bamboo.)
Show a picture of monkeys and ask: Do you like monkeys? Why? (funny/jump around/make people laugh)
Do pandas like to jump like monkeys do? No, they like to lie down all day long. (lie down/ all day long)
Show a picture of lions and say: Monkeys and pandas are very lovely. We all like them. How about lions? Lions are the kings of animal world. They are very dangerous. Don’t go near them. ( king/dangerous…)

Today, the students are in Sunshine Zoo. They’re seeing many different kinds of animals. Do you know what kinds of animals they are? Listen to the tape and try to find the answers.
Read the passage, then work in groups of four. Let’s complete Part B1. Read the introduce carefully. Try to find each animal’s location in the zoo.
