A computer virus is a computer program that is written by a malicious (怀有恶意的) author. They spread by copying themselves, then transferring onto other computers. There are around 53,000 computer viruses in existence, with a new one detected every 18 seconds. A computer virus can do everything, from popping up a short message to wiping key files, so that your computer doesn’t work. The “I LOVE YOU” virus infected up to 45 million computers, causing £7 billion worth of damage worldwide.
How to avoid catching a virus?
Stay calm. A computer virus isn’t dangerous until the infected e-mail is opened. Deleted items folder. Don’t open any attachment (附件) you are not sure about, even if you have a virus scanner . Read the e-mail and check that the contents of the message make sense before you open any attachment. Don’t forward any attachment to a friend without being sure it is safe.
Look out for hoaxes. There are many e-mails warning of “the most destructive virus ever”, but often these viruses don’t exist. Don’t send an e-mail about a “new virus” without checking it out. Visit sites like www.vmyths.com to check for hoaxes.
Send any e-mail that you think is infected to an anti-virus company. They can tell you whether it is a virus to anyone except the official virus companies. Mail filtering system will probably delete it anyway.
If you get a computer virus you’ll need to use a virus scanner to get rid of it. Don’t be careless just because you have a virus scanner. You will still need to keep your eyes open in case a new virus appears.
25. The computer virus can do everything except ____.
A. pop up a short message B. attack the computer users directly
C. wipe key files D copy out itself.
26. The best way to check whether it is a virus or not is to______.

what is a computer virus
B. what is the damage of a computer virus

Most children now chat daily either online or through their mobile phones. They are connecting to a huge number of other children all over the world. Some are shy "in real life" but are confident to communicate with others online. Others find support from people of their own age on relationship issues, or problems at home.
Sometimes the online world, just like the real world, can introduce problems, such as bullying or arguments. Going online is great fun, but there are also a few people who use the Internet for offensive (冒犯性的) or illegal aims. Children must be made aware of both the good things and the dangers.
To keep children safe, your management must cover the family computer. Just as you decide which TV programmes are suitable, you need to do the same for the websites and chat rooms your children visit. Remind your children that online friends are still strangers. Reminding them of the risks will keep them alert (警惕的).
Computer studies are part of schoolwork now, so it’s likely that your children may know more than you do. We get left behind when it comes to the latest gadgets and the interactive areas of websites, like chat rooms and message boards, which are especially strange. The language of chat is strange to many parents, too. Chatters love to use abbreviations (缩写) such as: atb—all the best, bbfn—bye bye for now, cul8er—see you later,gr8—great, Idk—I don't know, imbl—it must be love, kit—keep in touch, paw—parents are watching, lol—laugh out loud, xlnt—excellent! It seems like another language, and it is!
28. The passage is meant for _______.
A. children B. parents C. teachers D. net bar owners
29. Which of the following will the author probably agree with?
A. The Internet is no good for children.
B. The chat language is strange to adults.
C. Children shouldn't chat so much online.
D. The Internet is a good place for children.
30. The purpose of writing this passage is to advise _______.
A. people not to use the net language in real life
B. children not to meet online friends freely
C. teachers to have students study on computers
D. parents to protect their children from online dangers
31. In order to keep children safe online, you'd better _______.
A. choose suitable websites and chat rooms for them
B. teach them to use correct net words
C. surf the Internet together with them
D. forbid them to use the Internet
D
Shopping online in search of a bargain(便宜货)can often leave you feeling disappointed or out of pocket rather than satisfied. You can avoid this by following our simple advice:
PRODUCT—Before you look for the cheapest price you need to decide what product you actually want. You can do this by researching online, the easiest way is to Google for different products so that you can decide on what would be best for you.
SEARCH & COMPARE —You are now ready to use a comparison website to try and find out the best prices. You should never just use one comparison website, using two or more will give you a balanced view of the market. Comparison websites are necessary.
You need to first check out what kind of technology a site uses. Although the idea behind Froogle (now called Google Products)is attractive, the technology it uses is not as advanced as sites such as Kelkoo and Pricerunner. Froogle uses a regular search engine.
And don't expect price comparison sites to be a sure-fire way of getting a bargain. The sites will only show products from companies who pay them. This is not necessarily a bad thing—suppliers value their reputation(名声)and their business relationships.
AND SEARCH AGAIN—Before you buy you should search the product using a price comparison service, then try again just using a standard search engine—it might find the product with a cheaper price.21·cn·jy·com
If you use Firefox to surf the web then there's an add-on (附加的)tool that you can download which finds the cheapest price for a product for you.
It is called the Invisible Hand and it is free to download. For example,if you're shopping online at Amazon, the Invisible Hand will pop up and tell you that it is £56 cheaper at Dixons.
The tool will only work when you are looking at products,so it shouldn't disturb your day to day internet surfing. The add-on is supported by well-known brands(品牌)such as BT,Comet and HMV but obviously it won't search every single site out there,so it is still best to use a comparison site in addition to the tool.
32.According to the passage, how to decide what product to buy?
A.By shopping online. B.By searching online.
C.By looking for the cheapest price. D.By deciding which is best.
33.We can learn from the passage that ______.
A.we don't need to use two or more comparison websites
B.comparison websites often give us wrong views and choices
C.all the search engines are the same advanced
D.different comparison websites use different technologies
34.What's the exact meaning of the underlined phrase “pop up”in Paragraph 8?It's _____.
A.shout B.appear C.disappear D.hide
35.What's the BEST title of the passage?
A.How to Find Perfect Bargains Online
B.How to Use Search Engines
C.Different Websites in the World
D.Online Shopping's Advantage

Before your child enters the teenage years, you might learn more about the physical, social and emotional changes of your child, which help you understand other changes in your child's behaviour and your relationship.
36 Try to remember what you went through, and how you felt. Use those feelings and experiences when dealing with your child.
Teenage behaviour can be frustrating, but often it's part of building independence and skills for adulthood. 37 Arguments over day-to-day issues like school problems, housework and screen time can be tough. But they're also a sign that your child is seeking independence, developing confidence.
38 . No matter what you do, you won't be able to avoid some stormy moments. But this stage of your child's life won't last forever. Keep in mind that mess during the teenage years is a side effect of its more important purpose.
39 thinking about how you might respond now is much easier than trying to come up with a reasonable strategy on the spot, especially if it involves a tricky subject.
40 Think about how you might do this ahead of time. For example, if your 13-year-old wants to go a movie with friends, you might choose to let him go but you might also want to set some boundaries so he's doing it as safely as possible.
A. Encourage independence in a safe way.
B. The teenage years aren't all smooth sailing.
C. Teenagers hold self-confidence at home against their parents.
D. Changing the way you think about teenage behaviour can help.
E. Thinking back to your own adolescence can help you relate to your child.
F. Parents should change their view that they close their minds and know little outside world.
G. It can be a good idea to plan how you'd like to settle common issues before they come up.

Online Shopping
Nowadays, shopping through the Internet has been becoming increasingly popular among senior high school students and they prefer to buy almost everything they want online. There is no denying that they can have fun and enjoy its convenience.
Online shopping, however, can sometimes bring headaches to students. For one thing, the quality of the goods may not be as good as described and it is possible for them to buy fake goods. For another, normally it is very hard for buyers to change those goods bought online, with which they are not satisfied.
Personally, I strongly hold the view that regulations and rules should be made to supervise Internet shopping providers. If so, I believe a safe and pleasant online shopping is just awaiting us.
