·What makes a good doctor?
·Why do some doctors go to work in poor areas? Norman Bethune was born in Canada in 1890.He was a famous doctor and a nice man. In 1916, Norman Bethune graduated from? the University of Toronto. With a lot of hard work, he found new ways to help people with T.B. — a disease that damages the lungs. He also invented tools that remain? in use today.
Norman Bethune is well known for helping the Chinese people in the Anti-Japanese War. In 1938, he made a decision? to go to northern China because he knew many people were dying in the war. Bethune organized hospitals, taught doctors and nurses, and showed people how to give? first aid. In China, Norman Bethune is a hero. People remember how hard he worked day after day in the worst possible conditions to help others. He once operated? for sixty-nine hours straight without stopping. Norman Bethune died in Hebei. ①remain后接名词作表语。

尽管吵过架,他们仍然是最好的朋友。②remain后接形容词作表语。
eg:He remained silent.
他保持沉默。
③remain后接介词短语作表语。
eg:He had to remain in hospital until he was better.
他不得不一直住院直到他身体好些。
④remain后接分词作表语。接现在分词作表语,表 示正在进行的主动动作;接过去分词作表语,表示主语所处的状态或已经发生的被动动作。
eg:The situation remained unchanged.
局势依然未变。典例People remain ________ until the plane has come to

表示主语所处的状态,故选D项。remain作不及物动词的用法:
表示“剩余”“残存”。

表示“逗留”,“留下”。

(3)decide about/ on + 名词/ 代词/ 动名词,表示 “决定……”。
eg:I decide on a book that I need to read.
我选定了一本我需要看的书。
(4)decide+从句
eg: I decide I read English for an hour every day.
我决定每天读一小时英语。知识点4show sb.+疑问词+不定式“教某人……;展示给某人……”eg:Can you show me how to do it?
你能给我展示一下该怎样做这件事吗?考向show 还可以用于:show sb.sth.=show sth. to sb.“向某人展示某物”。
eg:She shows me her picture.
=She shows her picture to me.

eg:You can get a doctor to operate on him.
你可以让医生为他做手术。 operate 还可作及物动词,表示“经营,管理,操作(机械)”。
eg:The company operates five factories.
这家公司经营了五个工厂。
