Pre-task preparations
Activity 1
Show some fruit to the students to introduce new words.
e.g., T: Look, this is an apple. It’s red.
Activity 2
Elicit the new words by listening to the rhyme on Student’s Book page 37.
While-task procedures
Activity 1
Give four kinds of fruit to the students. Ask them to pass the fruit and repeat the chant.
e.g.,
T: pass the apple.
S1: Apple, apple, I can see.
S2: Apple, apple, I can see.
Activity 2
Divide the class into groups and give each group some fruit. Then ask the students to follow your orders and say the names of the fruit as they do so.
e.g.,
T: Touch the apple.
Ss: (Touch the apple) Apple.
Activity 3
Have the students play a guessing game on Student’s Book page 35.
e.g.,
T: How many pears?
S1: Six pears.
T: (Asks the students to count the pears)
How many pears?
S1: Five pears.
Activity 4
Have the students wear the fruit masks and role-play as fruit, making short dialogues.
e.g.,
S1: I’m Apple.
S2: Hi, Apple. I’m Orange.
S1: Hello, Orange. How are you?
S2: Fine, thank you.
S1: Bye-bye.
S2: Bye-bye.
Activity 3
Model a short dialogue for the students. Then have the students make new dialogues and practice them in pairs.
e.g.,
T: Give me some apple, please.
S: How many apples?
T: Four apples.
S: Here you are.
T: Thank you.

Pre-task preparations
Activity 1
Show the wall picture to the students and then have them listen to the dialogue of “Let’s talk”.
Activity 2
Act out the dialogue on Student’s Book page 34. Ask a more able student to act as the shop assistant while you act as the customer.
e.g.,
T: Apple, please.
S: How many apples?
T: Four.
S: Here you are.
T: Thank you.
While-task procedures
Activity 1
Ask the students to repeat after the recording of “Let’s talk”. The girls can be Kitty and the boys can be the shop assistant. You can also divide the class into groups to do this activity.
Activity 2
Use two puppets to act out the dialogue. Ask the students to repeat after them using different voices.
Activity 3
Show the wall picture of Student’s Book page 36 to the students. With the help of the pictures, prompt the students to retell the dialogue.
Activity 4
Show some fruit to the students and let them choose one kind. Then have the students make a dialogue in pairs. Select several pairs to act out their dialogues.
e.g.,
S1: Oranges, please.
S2: How many oranges?
S1: Three.
S2: Here you are.
S1: Thank you.
