Pre-task preparations
Activity 1
Show a snack bar on the screen and introduce the names of some fast food items to the students.
e.g., T: Look, this is a hamburger.
Activity 2
To elicit the new words, show the wall picture of Student’s Book page 41 and have the students listen to the recording of “Let’s enjoy”.
While-task procedures
Activity 1
Play a memory game. Show pictures of different kinds of food on the screen and ask the students to repeat the names of these food items. Mix the pictures up and take away one of them. Ask them to say which food is missing as quickly as they can.
e.g.,
Ss: Cake. Hamburger. Pizza.
T: Which is missing?
Ss: Pie.
Activity 2
Ask the students to listen to and repeat the rhyme on Student’s Book page 41. Then have them practice it in groups.
Activity 3
Divide the class into groups of six. Give each group one kind of food and then ask them to pass the food and say the appropriate sentence in turn.
e.g.,
S1: Give me a hamburger, please.
S2: Here you are.
Activity 4
Put some pictures of food on the blackboard. Have the students count the items, and then ask and answer in pairs.
e.g.,
S1: How many pizzas?
S2: Three pizzas.
Post-task activities
Activity 1
Ask the students to do “Listen and number” on Workbook page 42. Then have them introduce the names of the food.
e.g., S: Look, this is a hamburger. Yummy. Yummy.
Activity 2
Put some pictures of food on the blackboard. Have a student act as a customer while you act as a shop assistant.
e.g.,
T: Can I help you?
S: A pizza, please.
T: Here you are.
S: Thank you.
Divide the class into pairs. Have them make short dialogues like the example above.
e.g.,
S1: A hamburger, please.
S2: Here you are.
S1: Thank you.

Activity 2
To elicit the new dialogue, show the wall picture of Student’s Book page 38 to the students and have them listen to the recording.
While-task procedures
Activity 1
Show pictures of different kinds of food and then have the students respond quickly.
e.g.,
T: (Shows the flashcard of “cake”)
Ss: May I have a cake?
Activity 2
Have a competition between boys and girls. Ask them to make a sentence with the pattern May I have…? They should use different words for objects or food. The group that makes more sentences is the winner.
e.g.,
B1: May I have a cake?
G1: May I have a pie?
B2: May I have a pencil?
G2: May I have a book?
Activity 3
Ask the students to practise the dialogue of “Let’s act” on Student’s Book page 39.
Activity 4
Have the students do “Listen and match” on Workbook page 42. Then have them work in pairs and make short dialogues about the pictures.
e.g.,

Activity 5
Model a dialogue on Student’s Book page 40. Ask the students to work in pairs and make a short dialogue following the example. Then have them act it out.

Have the students do “Look, listen and act” on Workbook page 44. Choose some students to act the dialogues out.
e.g.,
