Pre-task preparations
Activity 1
Show the picture of a park to the students and describe the rainbow in it.
e.g., T: Look at the rainbow. It’s very nice. We can see red, yellow, green, blue, orange, purple and violet.
Activity 2
Show the students a plate of fresh fruit and describe the fruit.
e.g., T: Look! This is an apple. It’s red. Look! That’s a banana. It’s not red. It’s yellow.
While-task procedures
Activity 1
Have the students repeat the name of the colour after you while you raise the corresponding coloured card.
e.g.,
T: Red.
Ss: It’s red.
Activity 2
Have the students listen to “Let’s talk” and “Let’s learn” on Student’ Book pages 52 and 53. Have them repeat after the recording.
Activity 3
Ask the students to act out the dialogue on Student’s Book page 52 in pairs.
e.g.,
S1: What’s this?
S2: It’s a pear.
S1: What colour is it?
S2: It’s yellow.
Activity 4
Show the students the picture of a park. Ask them to work in pairs and make a dialogue.
e.g.,
S1: Look! What’s this?
S2: It’s a tree.
S1: What colour is it?
S2: It’s green.
S1: Yes. It’s a green tree.

Activity 1
Have the students listen to the riddles and then try to find the corresponding animal picture on the blackboard.
e.g., T: It’s yellow. It’s small. It goes “Peep…Peep…” What is it?
Activity 2
Have the students listen to the rhyme on Student’s Book page 55. Then ask several students to colour the kites on the blackboard.
e.g., T: Colour the kite red. Colour the kite blue. Colour the kite orange. Colour the kite brown.
While-task procedures
Activity 1
Have the students do “Ask and answer” on Student’s Book page 54 in pairs. Choose several pairs to check.
Activity 2
Divide the class into groups. Have them say the sentences on Student’s Book page 53 in turn.
e.g.,
S1: Colour the book red.
S2: Colour the pencil green.
S3: Colour the rubber yellow.
S4: Colour the ruler blue.
Activity 3
Have the students in groups of four choose one of four animals (cow, pig, chick, duck) and make a riddle about it. Then ask the students to play a guessing game.
e.g.,
Ss: It’s big. It’s fat. It goes “Oink…Oink…” What is it?
S1: Is it a pig?
Ss: Yes.
