Step1. Lead-in
1. T: Good morning, guys! I am your new teacher today, I am from Qinghai. You can call me Miss Zhang. This is the second time I came to Xi’an. I love the city and the local food here. Yesterday I had some Roujiamo for lunch, a kind of Chinese hamburger. They were delicious. And I also had some sausages and sandwiches for dinner. They were delicious, too. (教师介绍时可以同时出示图片,并领读sausages, sandwiches,and delicious)
2. T: Ok, guys, Do you like delicious food?
Ss: Yes.
T: Great! We are going to talk about food in this class, before we start, I would like to divide you into five groups, in each group, and you can see a hungry monster, monster ABCDE. They all want to have some food, but you can get some food to feed them only if you work hard and do well enough in class. You guys who will get most food to feed your monster will be the winners. I will give you some snack food from my hometown as a reward. Do you understand? Ok, let’s start from brainstorming.
T: (T shows the pictures of sausages and sandwiches and make students to read in choral) Do you still remember the words you learned just now, please read the words together for three times.
Ss: ......
4. T: Ok, Can you think of more food? First, tell your partners in your group, then, let’s have a competition and see which group can give out the most words.
(Ss work in groups)
T: (Get Ss to say some names of food while T writes them down on Bb.)
Hi, guys. Stopping working, who can tell me?
Ss: (Ss presents the words concerned with food respectively, T gives “food card ”to those who gives out the words) Bread、ice-cream…
(先只是把圆圈画出来,把单词分开写出来,学完课文后再出示Chinese food and English food, 强调They are delicious. They are very different.)

Chinese food English food
T: They are Chinese food. We Chinese usually eat dumplings、noodles、rice. But English people usually eat chips、hamburgers, they are English food, they are different.
设计意图:通过头脑风暴唤起食物单词的回忆并积累本课两个新单词,并感知中西饮食习惯的不同)
Step2. Listening
1. T: You guys did a very good job, now look at the food in the picture and read them aloud by yourselves.
Ss: (read individually)
T: This time you are going to listen to a dialogue between Daming and Fanfan, they are talking about the Email from Lingling. (T teaches Email)
T: Lingling is in England. In her Email she talked about English food, now look at your activity sheet, listen and circle the food you hear.
Ss; (listen and circle)
T: Have you done? Please tell your partners the food you circled.
Ss: (check the answers in groups)
T: Ok, stop! Who can tell me what food you heard?
Ss: (say the words)
2. Well done! Lingling had delicious English food. This time let’s listen to the tape once again. Before listening, I would like to give you three questions (Presents questions on the screen)
What did Lingling have for breakfast/ lunch/dinner?
T: Let’s read the questions together. Well, now look at your activity sheet, listen with the questions and match the food with three meals.( present PPT)

Step3 Drilling
Ss read after the teacher for several times.

T: This morning, I had bread and milk for breakfast. What did you have for breakfast?

T: What did she/he have for breakfast?
Ss: She/He had… (All Ss answer together,) (pratice two times)
T: Ok, this time I would like you to work in group of three. Now I want two guys to come here, Let’s show how to do it.( Do a demo) Do you understand? OK, Please do it.
Ss:Practice “What did you /he/ she have? I /He/She/ had …” in groups.
T: Time’s up, I want three groups to show your practice, who wants to try?

Step5.Do a survey

T:You did very good job, I’m so proud of you! Now let’s see your hungry monsters, did you monster have got enough food? Are your monsters still hungry? What did your monsters have? Now I would like to give you 2 minutes to talk about the food your monster had. Please use the patterns on the screen.( after practicing, teacher gets the feedback by asking questions soon after Ss finished practicing)

T: Now your monsters are strong and lovely you group gor the most food , you are the winner. You can get the snack food from Qinghai. Congratulations! I would treat you lots of delicious Qinghai food. OK, It’s time to say goodbye to you.
