Lesson 11 is the fifth lesson in Unit 2, Book 5.This unit focus on the subject great people. Students cares about the subject because it is close to everyone. Explain the language points:
graduate from意为“从……毕业”。句中graduated是动词graduate的过去式。graduate作动词,意为“毕业”,可表示大学毕业或中学毕业。【来源:21cnj*y.co*m】
graduate作可数名词,意为“大学毕业生,毕业生”。
with a lot of hard work为介词短语作伴随状语。to help people with T.B.为不定式短语作ways的定语。a disease that damages the lungs,其中that从句作disease的后置定语。
a way/ways to do sth.意为“做某事的方法”,后面的动词不定式短语作定语。a way/ways of doing sth.也表示“做某事的方法”。
remain in use意为“仍然在使用中”。remain为系动词,意为“仍然是,保持不变”,其后通常接形容词或介词短语作表语。
remain, still的区别
remain意为“仍然是,保持不变”,后面可接名词、形容词、介词短语、分词作表语。可指人逗留在某个场所,也可指物逗留在某个场所或保持原来的状态。
still意为“仍旧,还”,指某事仍在继续,多用于肯定句和疑问句中。
make a decision意为“做出决定”。make a decision to do sth.意为“决定做某事”,相当于decide to do sth.。
because为连词,意为“因为”,引导原因状语从句。
show people how to give first aid意为“教人们如何急救”。除show之外,tell, teach, decide等动词之后也可跟“疑问词+动词不定式(短语)”作宾语。
first aid意为“急救”。
day after day意为“日复一日,多日,连续地”,强调动作的重复性。
day by day意为“一天一天地,逐日地”,强调动作的逐渐性。
possible为形容词,意为“可能的”,其副词为possibly,反义词为impossible“不可能的”。
condition为名词,意为“环境,条件”。
动词不定式短语to help others作状语,用来表示目的。
operate为不及物动词,意为“动手术”,其名词形式为operation,意为“手术”。“给某人或某部位做手术”常用operate on…。【版权所有:21教育】
动词不定式短语to remember him在句中作目的状语,前置于句首,表示强调。动词不定式(短语)可位于句首,用逗号与句子隔开,也可位于句末。
set up为动副短语,意为“建立,设立”。
not only…but also…意为“不仅……而且……”,连接两个表示并列关系的成分时,着重强调后者,其谓语动词形式通常与靠近的主语保持一致。21·世纪*教育网
