lead 在本句中的意思是“度过(时间、生活),也可换用live。
The old man lives/leads a quiet/happy/full/

lead还有“领导;带领;通向”的意思。

wish表示“希望;想要;祝愿”,后面可跟直接宾语、双宾语或宾语从句。

wish, hope的区别
(1)hope和wish后都不能接动名词,但可以接不定式,意为“想,希望”。
(2)wish可用于wish sb. to do sth.结构,hope则不能用于此结构。
(3)wish后可以跟双宾语,用来表示祝愿,但hope不能这样用。
(4)hope和wish都可以接从句。hope接从句表示“希望”,wish接从句所表达的内容通常是不可能实现的愿望,从句要用虚拟语气。21教育网
ask for后接物时,意思是“要求得到某物”;接人时;意思是“要求见到某人”。
I will ask for a pen next time.

He is asking for his sister.
他想见他的姐姐。
marry这里是及物动词,表达“嫁;娶;结婚”的意思。
He married an American girl last month.
他上个月娶了一个美国女孩。
