The world is full of great books. How can you pick one you’ll really like? Here are some tips.
What makes you happy? If you have a hobby, look for books about that activity. Are you really into dinosaurs or dogs or a specific famous person? You can find books about almost anything you're already interested in.
Fact or fiction (虚构)? Some books are completely made up and imagined. Those are called fiction books. Novels, short stories, and fables (寓言) are all examples of fiction. These books can lead you to another world or help you imagine something beyond (超越) your own experience. Non-fiction books give you the who, what, when, and why. They tell stories using facts—but that doesn't mean they're boring. Try both fiction and nonfiction books to see which you like better.
Ask an expert. Tell a librarian about your interests—rock stars, sports teams, historical events, whatever you are into. Your librarian can help you find some books that you're sure to love. Your teacher is another good person to ask.
Do a book swap (交换). Why not get some friends together and exchange your favorite books? Even if you're not exactly bookworms (书虫), you can encourage each other to read and share books you like. You can also look for book swaps in your area. It's a great way to build your personal library for free!

Passage 2(2018预测)
For most students, the time before exams is very stressful and difficult. Because they are afraid of failing and letting their parents down. If exams really make you anxious or worried, you don't need to hide your feelings. Talk to someone about it.
How to get through an important test? Here is some advice.
★Ask a teacher about how to review the lessons and improve testing skills.
★Take short rests during study. If your mind is tired, it will not work well.
★Get enough sleep and eat healthy food. Have a positive attitude: Don't be afraid of exams.
★Stop thinking about the future and failure.
If you feel anxious, you can talk to someone about your feelings. But don't be too relaxed! Some stress before exams makes you work hard for them.
If it upsets (搅乱) you to talk to your friends about the exam when it finished, don't do it! In fact, do not even think about the exam you have finished. After all, you cannot change what you have written!
If you study in the evening, you'd better not go straight to bed. Your mind will still be “going round and round”—thinking too much. Do something else, maybe take a walk or take exercise. Do something that makes you relaxed, and think about other things.

It's not always easy to understand how someone else feels. In fact, we should develop the ability—understanding other people with practice. Understanding others is all about watching and listening. Try to learn it with the following ways.
To look. Look around and try to guess how people might feel according to their body language, facial expressions and behaviors.
To listen. People who are good at understanding others are usually good listeners. Research shows that the more carefully one listens, the closer he feels to the other. After you know how to understand others, you could show your support to the people you care about.
To ask and think. Ask them what they need. If your friends are going through difficult time, ask what you can do to help them. If your friends say, “I don't know，” think about what you want in the same situation, and then offer to do something similar.
To be interested. Show a real interest in them. Be curious(好奇的) about them in a way that shows you want to understand them better. For example, ask about what they like to do, or their feelings, ideas, and opinions.

Escaping from a fire is a serious matter. Knowing what to do during a fire can save your life. It's important to know the ways you can use and show them to everyone in the family, such as stairways and fire escapes, but not elevators.
From the lower floors of the buildings, escaping through windows is possible. Learn the best way of leaving by windows with the least chance of serious injury.
The second floor window is usually not very high from the ground. Of course, it is safer to jump a short way than to stay in a burning building.
Windows are also useful when you are waiting for help. Be sure to keep the door closed. Or smoke and fire may come into the room. Keep your head low at the window to be sure you get fresh air rather than smoke that may get into the room.
On the second or third floor, the best windows for escape are those that open onto a roof. From the roof a person can drop to the ground more safely. Dropping onto hard ground might end in injury. Bushes and grass can help to break a fall.

The dragon is important for Chinese people. We Chinese people call ourselves the “descendants(传人) of the dragon”. Therefore, people celebrate the Dragon Head Raising Day with many customs.
