Passage 1(2018原创)
The world is full of great books. How can you pick one you’ll really like? Here are some tips.
What makes you happy? If you have a hobby, look for books about that activity. Are you really into dinosaurs or dogs or a specific famous person? You can find books about almost anything you're already interested in.
Fact or fiction (虚构)? Some books are completely made up and imagined. Those are called fiction books. Novels, short stories, and fables (寓言) are all examples of fiction. These books can lead you to another world or help you imagine something beyond (超越) your own experience. Non-fiction books give you the who, what, when, and why. They tell stories using facts—but that doesn't mean they're boring. Try both fiction and nonfiction books to see which you like better.
Ask an expert. Tell a librarian about your interests—rock stars, sports teams, historical events, whatever you are into. Your librarian can help you find some books that you're sure to love. Your teacher is another good person to ask.
Do a book swap (交换). Why not get some friends together and exchange your favorite books? Even if you're not exactly bookworms (书虫), you can encourage each other to read and share books you like. You can also look for book swaps in your area. It's a great way to build your personal library for free!
1. Choosing books according to your hobby is a good way.
2. Fiction books are telling us true stories.
3. Anyone can help you find books that you love.
4. Ask friends to get together and share books you read.
5. There are five tips mentioned in this passage.【出处:21教育名师】
Passage 2(2018预测)
For most students, the time before exams is very stressful and difficult. Because they are afraid of failing and letting their parents down. If exams really make you anxious or worried, you don't need to hide your feelings. Talk to someone about it.
How to get through an important test? Here is some advice.
★Ask a teacher about how to review the lessons and improve testing skills.
★Take short rests during study. If your mind is tired, it will not work well.
★Get enough sleep and eat healthy food. Have a positive attitude: Don't be afraid of exams.
★Stop thinking about the future and failure.
If you feel anxious, you can talk to someone about your feelings. But don't be too relaxed! Some stress before exams makes you work hard for them.
If it upsets (搅乱) you to talk to your friends about the exam when it finished, don't do it! In fact, do not even think about the exam you have finished. After all, you cannot change what you have written!
If you study in the evening, you'd better not go straight to bed. Your mind will still be “going round and round”—thinking too much. Do something else, maybe take a walk or take exercise. Do something that makes you relaxed, and think about other things.
1. If exams really make us anxious or worried, we should hide our feelings.
2. We cannot ask anyone about how to improve our exam skills.
3. From the passage, we know some stress before exams can make us study harder.
4. If you want to go to sleep quickly after studying at night, you can do something else to relax yourself.

Passage 3(2017青岛)
Our skin is like a bag that we live in. Inside the bag our bodies are mostly water. Our water is like the water in the sea. It is very salty. Also, like the ocean, we can lose our water. The wind and the sun could take it away. Our bag of skin keeps our body's ocean from drying up.
Our skin keeps out sunshine. Too much sunshine can hurt us. Skin also keeps out dirt. That's important because some kinds of dirt can make us sick. Our skin feels things. It feels warm things, cold things, things it touches, and things that hurt it. A campfire feels warm. A snowball thrown in our face feels cold and hurts us. A hug is the touch of another person's skin on our own.
Our hair is a special kind of covering. It helps us keep things out of our eyes, ears and nose. Hair is also good for keeping us warm. When we get goose bumps (鸡皮疙瘩), our body hairs stand up.
Then the hairs hold air close to our skin like a thick blanket (毯子). Hair keeps animals warm, too. Some animals have more hair than others, so they have a better blanket for cold weather.
Our nails (指甲) are another special skin which are very hard. They help keep our fingers from getting hurt. Our nails aren't as strong as the nails that animals have. But they are good for picking up coins.
1. Our skin is like a bag full of salt.

Let everyone know that I will hold a competition for the most beautiful thing in the world. And the prize will be this crown (王冠).”
Several days later, lots of people came to the competition and showed their things. The queen was not satisfied with what she saw. The advisor suggested, “What you are looking for cannot be brought to you. You must look for it by yourself. What about a journey?”
The queen was interested in the idea, so she started immediately. As she was on the top of the hill near her palace, she looked down and suddenly something cried in her heart, “Why have I never found my palace so beautiful?”
The queen spent one year travelling. She saw beauty on the farm, in the forest and even in the stars twinkling(闪烁) at night during her journey. But what was the most beautiful thing? Passage 6(2018原创)
It's not always easy to understand how someone else feels. In fact, we should develop the ability—understanding other people with practice. Understanding others is all about watching and listening. Try to learn it with the following ways.
To look. Look around and try to guess how people might feel according to their body language, facial expressions and behaviors.
To listen. People who are good at understanding others are usually good listeners. Research shows that the more carefully one listens, the closer he feels to the other. After you know how to understand others, you could show your support to the people you care about.
To ask and think. Ask them what they need. If your friends are going through difficult time, ask what you can do to help them. If your friends say, “I don't know,” think about what you want in the same situation, and then offer to do something similar.
To be interested. Show a real interest in them. Be curious(好奇的) about them in a way that shows you want to understand them better. For example, ask about what they like to do, or their feelings, ideas, and opinions.

What are you going to do if you are in a burning house? How will you escape? Do you know how to save yourself? Please read the following passage.
Escaping from a fire is a serious matter. Knowing what to do during a fire can save your life. It's important to know the ways you can use and show them to everyone in the family, such as stairways and fire escapes, but not elevators.
From the lower floors of the buildings, escaping through windows is possible. Learn the best way of leaving by windows with the least chance of serious injury.
The second floor window is usually not very high from the ground. Of course, it is safer to jump a short way than to stay in a burning building.
Windows are also useful when you are waiting for help. Be sure to keep the door closed. Or smoke and fire may come into the room. Keep your head low at the window to be sure you get fresh air rather than smoke that may get into the room.
