The giant panda is one of the most popular animals in the world. A giant panda can grow up to 1.5 meters long and weigh up to 160 kg. People think the giant panda is very lovely. So it is not surprising that the World Wide Fund for Nature chose(选择)the giant panda as its symbol. The WWF tells people about animals that they are in danger and raises money to save them.
The giant panda only lives in the wild in China. (3)In the early 1980s,there were only 1,000 left in the wild. The main reason why pandas are endangered is that the area where pandas can live has become smaller. The WWF works to help giant pandas in the wild in many ways. One of the ways that helps them is to increase the size of panda reserves(自然保护区). Some reserves need to be joined together by planting bamboo between them to make "corridors". These are paths that lead from one reserve to another. No one may harm the pandas in these areas. The corridors let pandas move from one habitat(栖息地)to another to look for food. (4)People are working hard to make sure the giant panda does not die out.

The long trunk of an elephant is a wonderful example of skill. The neck of four-footed animals is usually long, to have them reach their food without difficulty, but the elephant has a short neck, to make him more easily support the weight of his huge head and heavy teeth. His long trunk lets him get his food easily.
The trunk of an elephant is to him what the neck is to other animals. It is also a nose to him, for at the end of it there is a empty place like a cup, and in the bottom of the cup are two holes, and the animal smells and breathes through them. It is an arm and a hand too, so that it has been said that the elephant carries his nose in his hand, and it might also have been said that he breathes by his hand.www-2-1-cnjy-com
At the end of the trunk, there is a strange part, about five inches long, which forms a finger. With this finger the animal can pick up the smallest piece of money from the ground, and he has been taught to make marks like letters with a pen.21*cnjy*com

Like humans, dogs donate blood too, and not every dog can donate blood. The dogs are screened(检查)for health first. Owners volunteer their pets for the short procedure(程序), which requires no sedation, a kind of medicine given to calm him or her down. It’s the dog that finally chooses to live still and give. If the dogs want to get up and leave, they can.

Sandy said she wouldn’t have troubled herself with highway traffic and city parking problems to take the dog to Penn Vet’s animal hospital in downtown Philadelphia, which is twice as far from her home. There is little doubt that house cats first developed naturally from ancient wild cats. The closest relative is the African wild cat which still lives in Africa today. This is understandable because the first house cats carne from Africa.
Cats first started to live around people in Egypt about 6,000~7,000 years.ago. From Egypt, cats started to move around the world. This is about the same time that Egyptians began storing grain(谷物) in buildings. Scientists used to believe that people tamed cats to catch mice and protect the grain. However, cats don't like to be told what to do! Now, scientists believe that cats followed the mice and learned to accept people. Finally, some of the cats began to grow comfortable around people. These were smaller cats that needed protection. As these cats and people got used to each other, then they moved in together Around 5,000 years ago, cats started to live with people.
Soon cats were in Greece, then the Middle East and China. They moved along Egyptian business roads keeping away mice and keeping people around them. After the Romans came to Egypt, they also accepted the cats and brought them to Europe. These cats likely bred(繁殖) with other cats to form the many kinds of house cats we have today.
Cats are relatively recent house animals. House cats still have a lot in common with their wild relatives. Cats sleep a lot to save energy just like wild cats. They will often got food at night as well. House cats are generally peaceful and friendly, but be careful! If a cat feels it is in the danger, it will fight back—just like a wild cat!

Dear Jack,
How are you doing Let me tell you something about the pandas in China.21cnjy.com
Firstly, we choose suitable places as nature reserves for pandas. Pandas are protected in these areas. Then when the young pandas grow up, they are taught the necessary skills to live in the wild on their own. When they learn as much as possible, they are set free into the forests to live a normal life. We also try to get help from international organizations, such as WWF. They have given us a lot of knowledge about endangered animals.
Welcome to China to see the pandas.
Best wishes!
Yours,
Li Lei
