(1)以阅读理解题为主;
1.抓住四个"W"和一个"H",就是边读边用铅笔做些标记,把What (事件),When(时间),Where(地点),Why(原因),How(经过)划出来。

He replied that his name was Simon. In answer to further questions, the king learnt that the boy was an orphan; both his father and mother were dead.“Are you content(满足的)to do this kind of work?” the king asked, pointing at the bowls which the boy was washing. “Are you willing to spend your time in the kitchen when so many of the others work upstairs?”“Why not?” answered the boy, with a twinkle in his eye. “I am doing as well as the best of them. The king himself can do no better.”“Indeed!” said the king, no little surprised at the boy's words. “How do you know that?”“Well, sir, the king lives, and so do I. I am content with my life. Can the king say that he is content with his life?” Louis walked away, his mind full of strange, sad thoughts. No one knew better than he did that kings seldom feel content. The next day, much to Simon's surprise, he was called before the king. He was still more surprised when he found that his visitor of the day before was Louis himself. The king talked with him about many things, and found him to be a very quick and clever boy. After that Simon was made to serve the king directly. Step by step, he rose from one important task to another, until he became one of the best soldiers of that time. According to a report on the World Economic Forum (2016), critical thinking, creativity, and their practical application are widely accepted as the top three skills that young people need to possess in their future career.??? A good critical thinker usually takes the following steps before he dicides what to do. Whenever he needs to do something, he would, first of all, reason. He checks why he needs to do it and whether he really needs to do it. Then, analyze. He tries to find out what it really is and the best way to do it.? After that, evaluate. He makes sure whether he is able to do it and how to do it well. Finally, he makes the decision and takes action. Take the "Double 11" (a popular online shopping day in China) as an example. A few days before it, he checks carefully what he needs and whether he really needs them, and makes a shopping list. He goes to the online shops to compare the quality and the prices of the things that he is going to buy. He compares the shops that sell these things.??? Then he checks whether he can afford them and in which shops he is going to buy them. Although it takes him some time to make the decisions, he would not regret after the shopping.??? Then what would happen if he didn't think critically before he made the decisions? After the crazy "Double 11", there were usually a lot of complaints on the Internet. There were regrets about buying more things than they needed. There were complaints about the poor quality and the prices of the things they bought. There were also complaints because they received wrong things or simply received nothing. There were all kinds of regrets and complaints. Why so? They had not thought critically before they made the decisions.??? Critical thinking helps you make wiser decisions.? It helps you avoid wasting time, money and so on. Therefore, do look before you leap. 21cnjy.com

?? Once, Louis the Twelfth, the King of France, happened to walk into the kitchen of his palace. There he found a small boy busy at work and singing happily. The boy had bright eyes, and a happy, sunny face, and his looks and manners pleased the king. With a smile Louis asked him his name. It is so amazing that a famous scientist once called it "the most complex(复杂) thing we have yet discovered in our universe".?Can this small grey organ(器官) , which weighs less than one and a half kilos, really do so much? Amazingly , your brain contains about 100 billion neurons(神经元) -it would take you over 3, 000 years to count them all. Believe it or not, the activity in your brain never stops. Well, imagine this: a bee lands on your foot. Neurons in your skin send this information to your brain at a speed of more than 240 kilometers per hour. Your brain then uses other neurons to send the message back to your foot to shake the bee off quickly. These neurons can send this information at more than 320 kilometers per hour. No computer has your brain's unbelievable ability to deal with the amount of information coming from your eyes, ears and other sensory organs. But how does your brain allow you to learn things that you will use in the future? The structure (结构) of your brain changes every time you have a new thought, remember or learn something. For example, riding a bike seems impossible at first, but soon you are able to do it. How?
