教材分析
North America 是 Unit7 Know Our World 的最后一课，是对本单元前几课词汇语法内容的总结，所以本节课为综合课。本课将地理知识与英语课文有机结合起来，主要介绍了北美洲的面积、国家、人口、语言等概况。对于教材的分析有：
由于学生在前几课已经掌握基本的有关地理方面的英语词汇语法知识，本课对于学生来说是容易理解掌握的。
课文内容中仍有少量难度较大的词汇和语法表达，需要教师引导学生探究并着重讲解。
课文篇幅较长，教师可通过任务型教学法训练学生的阅读能力。
课文内容对于拓宽学生视野、了解异国文化有很大的帮助。
学情分析
本课的教学对象为八年级学生，对于七大洲及北美洲的概况有一定的基础知识，学生学习本课的过程是将地理知识迁移转化并强化的过程；
八年级学生已具备一定的获取、处理信息的能力、阅读能力和分析能力，教师只需引导学生通过回答设置的问题完成教学目标即可；
学生大多出生于省内工薪家庭，对于亚洲之外的地方并没有太多的生活经历，所以学生对课文内容有较强的好奇心和求知欲,课堂中这有利于调动学生的积极性。
教学方法
教法
运用任务型语言教学模式，根据教学内容设计课堂任务引导学生共同完成，布置课后任务让学生对所学知识加以巩固。教师引导学生带着问题进行阅读，用Skimming和Scanning的方法回答一些针对课文主旨大意和细节内容的问题，完成课堂阅读练习，帮助学生加强对文章的理解，训练学生的阅读能力。

以学生为主体，实行小组学习模式，通过学习课文材料，引导学生学会组内在合作探究、共同学习；又鼓励学生有不同的见解，实现个性化与差异化学习。
