Five Easy Ways to Boost(提高)Your Energy at Work
We all have those days when all we want is to crawl back in bed for a few more hours. Unfortunately, few of us have that luxure(奢侈). The following tips may help you stay energized, or at least get you going until you can make the time for rest.
1. Have a quick converstion with a high-energy colleague(同事). Their positive energy may refresh you.(Just be careful not to pull them down!)

People who exercise get more good sleep and often feel more energized than those who don’t.

In today’s working world, the high school diploma(高中文凭)program has become the first footstep in achieving a successful career. A high school diploma is a formal document issued(颁发)to prove a person’s successful completion of a secondary school program of studies.
It takes four years to complete the high school diploma program. The eligibility(合格)requirements for the high school diploma vary from state to state. A high school diploma is the minimum qualification for higher education and government jobs in the United Stated. The opportunities for a better job are extremely limited for one who has not earned a high school diploma. To be more specific, the high school diploma can qualify one for fruitful careers in science, education, health care, the travel industry, and the legal profession.
In some states, high school diplomas are differentiated by type such as a general diploma, an academic diploma, or a vocational(职业的)diploma. A high school diploma is regarded as the minimum admission requirement for post-secondary education programs. When people apply for a green card or a US visa, a high school diploma is a valuable asset(资产)for immigrants into the United States.
There are several ways to achieve a high school diploma. One can get the diploma through traditional classroom study. It is best suited for individuals who enjoy face-to-face interaction with their teachers and classmates. In the United States, opportunities are provided for getting high school diplomas without attending classes at school. One can earn a high school diploma at home through a combination of online and correspondence classes(函授班).
Generally, the high school diploma programs do not have minimum age requirements. In order to get the high school diploma, the students must complete the coursework required by their school district. Curriculum(课程)varies from district to district. Before enrollment, a student counseling(咨询)service is recommended to most students.

Parents often believe that they have a good relationship with their teenagers. But last summer, Joanna and Henry noticed a change in their older son. Suddenly he seemed to be talking far more to his friends than to his parents. “The door to his room is always shut,” Joanna noted.
Tina and Mark noticed similar changes in their 14-year-old daughter. “She used to cuddle up(蜷伏)with me on the sofa and talk,” said Mark. “Now we joke that she does this only when she wants something. Sometimes she wants to be treated like a little girl and sometimes like a young lady. The problem is figuring out which time is which.”
Before age 11, children like to tell their parents what’s on their minds. “In fact, parents are first on the list,” said Michael Riera, author of Uncommon Sense for parents with Teenagers. “This completely changes during the teen years,” Riera explained. “They talk to their friends first, then maybe their teachers, and their parents last.”
Parents who know what’s going on in their teenagers’ lives are in the best position to help them. To break down the wall of silence, parents should create chances to understand what their children want to say, and try to find ways to talk and write to them. And they must give their children a mental break, for children also need freedom, though young. Another thing parents should remember is that to be a friend, not a manager, with their children is a better way to know them.

Are you a team person Are you at your best as part of a small, tightly united group of devoted workers If so, the future may hold more for you than you think.
High technology, some said, would make teamwork a thing of the past. That’s happening in those areas of business and data processing where one person and a computer can replace a team of workers. But else where, teamwork is still very much alive. High technology has led to a new type of teamwork in a number of fields, including advertising, scientific research, engineering design, and ocean exploration.
Through computer networking, scientists, engineers, and technicians at different places, often thousands of miles apart, can work on the same project at once. They can exchange ideas, try out different designs, and test their results.
Examples An engineering team can now design and try out a robot system, a new manufacturing process, or an entire factory before it is built. A medical team can simulate(模拟)a dangerous operation before performing it on a patient.
Of course, computer-assisted team effort doesn’t end with investigation(学术研究)and simulation. It now usually continues into actual design, manufacturing and testing. “Computer-aided design and manufacture is breaking down barriers(障碍)between traditional design and manufacturing functions,” explains Dr Prakash Rao, an engineering manager at General Electric. “Interdisciplinary(跨科学的)teams and engineers follow a product from concept to production. Everything is inter-connected like a network.”
Sometimes, a computer-aided effort can extend beyond production. A team that produces robots may use them to explore space and ocean depths. For high technology teamwork, the future seems limitless.
68. The first paragraph mainly tells us .
A. you must join a small, tightly united group
B. what is a good team person

C. Through computer networking, teamwork can be done in space or oceans.
D. High technology makes teamwork take place in much more fields.

One of the most comon human fears is scarcity(贫穷). Many people are afraid of not having enough of what they need or want , and so they are always trying very hard to get to a point when they would finally have enough .
Alan and Linda always dreamed of living “the good life”. Both from poor working-class families, they married young and set out to fulfill their mutual(共同的)goal of becoming wealthy. They both worked very hard for years, amassing(积累)a small fortune, so they could move from their two-bedroom home to a seven-bedroom home in one of the best neighborhoods. They focused their energies on gathering all the things they believed showed abundance(富足): membership in the local country club, luxury cars, designer colthing, and high-class society friends. No matter how much they had, however, in never seemed to be enough. They were unable to get rid of the deep fear of scarcity both had acquired in childhood. Later the stock market crashed and a business failure made him lose the country club membership, the cars, and the house. It took several years and much hard work for them to land on their feet, and they now live a life far from extravagant(奢侈的). Only now, as they check what they have left-a solid, loving marriage, their health, a dependable income, and good friends-do they realize that true abundance comes not from amassing, but rather from appreciating.
Scarcity consciousness arises as a result of the “hole-in-the-soul syndrome(综合症)”. This is when we attempt to fill the gaps in our inner lives with things from the outside world. But like puzzle pieces, you can’t fit something in where it does not naturally belong. No amount of external objects, love, or attention can ever fill an inner hole. We already have enough, so we should enjoy ourselves in our own interior(内部的)abundance.
72. According to the passage, many people are afraid of .
A. working hard B. having enough
C. what they need D. the sense of scarcity
73. We can infer from the passage that Alan’s parents perhaps .
A. loved each other B. taught at school
C. were not rich D. often quarreled
74. Why did Alan and Linda never feel enough no matter how much they actually had
A. Because they had not enough in fact.
B. Because they didn’t know what abundance really is.
C. Because Alan wanted to be the richest person.
D. Because they wanted to help more other poor people.
75. Which of the following statements is NOT true according to the passage
A. We shouldn’t fill an inner hole with things from the outside world.
B. After a business failure, Alan and Linda felt the sense of scarcity.
C. People who have much wealth may fear scarcity as well.
D. Alan and Linda once thought high-class society friends prove abundance.
