一、教学目标(Teaching aims)
帮助学生学习Look and learn中的生词。
通过Listen and say中关于濒危动物数量的描述,帮助学生掌握句型 There were …。
通过Do a survey的调查活动,引导学生运用核心句型。
二、教学重难点(Teaching points and difficulties)
词汇:thousand, hundred, wild, in the past, in danger
句型:In the past, there were many pandas.
日常用语:Do you want to help them?
三、教学准备(Teaching preparation)
课件、音频。
四、教学过程(Teaching process)
Pre-task preparations
请学生谈谈他们喜欢的动物。
S1: I like pandas. They’re lovely animals. They’re black and white. They’re big
and they can’t run fast. They like eating bamboo.

2. 播放Sing a song的歌曲录音,然后请学生说出听到的动物,教师把单词写在黑板上。
T: What animals can you hear in the song?
S1: I can hear “eagle”.
T: (write eagle on the blackboard)
S2: I can hear “tiger”.
T: (write tiger on the blackboard)
然后在一些动物单词旁边写上in danger,引出单元话题 Animals in danger。
T: Animals are our friends. But some animals are in danger now.
While-task procedures
1. 在黑板上贴上挂图,指着大熊猫、华南虎和蓝鲸的照片。请学生说说这三种动物的情况。
S1: Blue whales live in the ocean.
S2: There aren’t many pandas now.

2. 在黑板上画出表格,在三种动物下面写上数字,并板书 There were ... There are …句型。

出示Listen and say的图片,播放录音,学生边听边看图片。教师板书hundred,thousand,only,用 Look and learn 的图片解释hundred和thousand的词义。让学生检查表格内数字是否正确,指出错误的地方并说出正确数字。

3. 学生完成Listen and say的反馈练习,然后核对答案。再次播放课文录音,请学生逐句跟读。
4. 请学生根据表格复述课文,介绍三种动物现有的数量及曾经的数量。
S1: In the past, there were many pandas, but now there are only sixteen hundred pandas. In the past, there were many South China tigers, but now there are only about thirty South China tigers. In the past, there were many blue whales, but now there are only about ten thousand. These animals are in danger now. We must help these animals and protect them.
Post-task activities
1. 调查活动。请学生看Do a survey的调查问题,四人一组课后展开调查。如果有条件,可以请学生上网进行搜索,然后把相应数据写在每幅图下面。
2. 请学生根据调查结果准备口头汇报。请几个小组作展示和汇报。

通过Read a story的故事阅读,帮助学生进一步理解一般过去时的用法。
二、教学重难点(Teaching points and difficulties)
词汇:way, die, learn, send, take care of, go for a walk, drive away
语法:one day, three years later等时间状语的用法。
三、教学准备(Teaching preparation)
课件、音频。
四、教学过程(Teaching process)
Pre-task preparations
1. 借助多媒体或挂图出示一组物品的前后数量对比,请学生用There were …,but now there are…进行陈述。
In the fridge, there were but now there are ...

S1: There were ten oranges in the fridge yesterday, but today there are only five oranges.

请学生谈谈某些濒临灭绝的动物的情况。
S1: The South China tigers are in danger. There were many South China tigers before, but now there are only about thirty in the wild.
While-task procedures
顺着上面最后一个学生的话,引出本课时的话题和学内谷。
T: The animals you mentioned are in danger now. Are animals our friends?
S1: Yes, they are.
T: Do you want to protect these animals?
S2: Yes, we do.
T: How can we protect these animals?
What can we do? Now discuss with your classmates.
学生自由讨论在保护动物方面能做些什么。然后进行全班交流。
S1: We mustn’t feed the animals in the zoo.
S2: People shouldn’t catch the blue whales.

请学生读Read a story的故事,并划出Joy和Elsa互相为对方做了些什么。
根据故事情节提问,请学生根据划出的内容回答,教师在黑板上写下关键词。
T: What did Joy do to help Elsa?
S1: She took care of Elsa.
Post-task activities
1.请学生和同桌一起看挂图,根据黑板上的关键词复述故事。
2.让学生分组思考故事的意义,分享类似的反映人与动物之间友好相处的故事。
What do you learn from the story? (Possible answers: Men and animals can live happily together. Men and animals can help each other.)

Pre-task preparations
请学生用There were…,but there are…谈谈生活中的变化。
S1: There were not many cars in the past, but there are many cars in the street now.
S2: There was a small television in my bedroom in the past, but now there is a big one in my bedroom.
播放Sing a song的歌曲,让学生跟唱。
While-task procedures
请学生根据下面的表格描述濒危动物的数量变化。
S1: There were many lions in the past, but now there are only 23,000.
出示濒危动物的资料,请学生说说该怎样保护这些动物。
S1: Blue whales live in the ocean. They’re in danger now. There were many blue whales in the past, but now there are only about ten thousand in the wild. Animals are our friends. We mustn’t catch and kill them.
3. 出示Learn the sounds的单词,请学生轻声朗读,找出发音规律,教师进行总结。

然后,播放Learn the sounds的录音,请学生跟录音朗读单词。
4. 请学生完成Listen and circle的练习,然后核对答案。出示符合这些发音规律的单词,请学生根据读音规则直接拼读。

Post-task activities
1. 学生分为四人一组,根据Do a survey的调查结果,围绕一种濒危动物过去和现在的数量以及生存状态搜集图片和文字资料,以 ... in danger为题制作一份海报。请个别小组展不并介绍。
2. 请学生看《练习册》Task的第一部分,选择一种濒危动物,填空完成资料卡,然后根据资料卡和同学问答。

S1: Where does it live?
S2: It lives in the South China Sea.
S1: What does it like eating?
S2: It likes eating fish.
最后,学生根据问答结果完成第三部分的练习,描述一种濒危动物目前的情况,针对如何保护这种动物给出适当的建议。
