Traveling with Parents
If I have the chance to go traveling, I would like to travel with my parents.
Don’t you think it’s safer for us to travel with our parents? With the help of our parents, we will not get lost. Our items won’t be stolen and we won’t be robbed by others, either. Besides, parents can look after us well, especially when we fall ill or get injured. What’s more, we could spend more time with our family. The better we get on with family, the more we love each other. Last but not least, parents could relax themselves by traveling as well.

During my first two weeks at the University of California , Berkeley , I experienced some unexpected , funny , and sometimes embarrassing situations . Allow me to share some with you .
But first , let me give advice to other foreign students who plan to study in the United States . Check the weather before coming! I was very sure that California was sunny all year around so I left all my jackets and sweaters in Paris. It was a huge mistake ! It rained almost every day during the first week in Berkeley.
I have to say that I quickly forgot these unlucky events. Life in Berkeley is very pleasant and everything is so easy compared to Paris. For example , in only 24 hours I bought a mobile phone and made the lease（租约）agreement for a flat . What’s more, almost all the shops are open on Sunday , which is very practical for me.
The first thing that surprised me is that students may come late to class . They freely enter and leave the classroom many times during class, In France, students respect the teacher’s lesson , so they are never late and they leave the classroom only at the end of the class.
The local people in California are in general very nice, open and active, However, I am not totally used to their habits yet. Indeed, I was used to shaking my friends’ hands every day in France . Getting electricity has always been a problem for the 173 people living in Nuevo Saposoa, a small village in Peru, South America. However, things went from bad to worse in March 2015 after heavy rains damaged（摧毁）the only power cables in the area. The villagers were forced to use oil lamps(灯), which are not only expensive but also dangerous because of the harmful gases(气体) they produce.
Luckily, researchers at the University of Technology（UT）in Lima, Peru heard about their problem and found a wonderful solution. They made a lamp that can be powered by plants and soil, both of which can be easily found in the Amazonian rainforest where the village lies. The lamp takes energy from a plant growing in a wooden box and uses it to light up an LED light bulb.
While that may sound amazing and even impossible, the science behind the ideas is quite simple. As plants create their food (using the sun’s energy, water and chemicals from the soil), they also produce waste which they return to the soil（土壤）. Tiny animals in the soil eat this waste and they produce electrons – the building blocks of electrical energy. The UT team put special sticks inside the soil to get the energy and keep it in the lamp’s batteries for later use. The researchers say a single charge can power a 50-watt Led light for two hours - enough time for local villagers to get their evening work done.
The university gave ten Plant Lamps to the villagers of Nuevo Saposoa in October 2015. So far, they have been a huge success! Elmer Ramirez, the UT professor who invented the lamp, believes the Plant Lamp could help improve the lives of many people, especially small rainforest communities, 42% of whom have no electricity.

Should Children Be Allowed to Get Bored?
Children need time to stand and stare. They should be allowed to get bored so that they can develop their ability to be creative.
Children are expected by their parents to be reading a textbook all the time. However, research shows that it may hamper the development of their imagination, while boredom can give them opportunities to develop creativity.
Boredom is often linked with loneliness, but a writer named Meera Syal said boredom had helped her in developing her mind. She told researchers about her childhood.
