一、教材分析
本单元是鲁教版六年级英语下册第七单元 Why do you like pandas?本单元主题为介绍和讨论动物。Section A部分主要围绕描绘动物特点而展开,从而引出why引导的特殊疑问句及答语。Section B部分主要围绕“关爱濒危动物”这一主题展开,通过创设一系列的情景,培养学生的动物保护意识和人文素养。本节课为Section B的一节阅读课,主要是通过阅读教学对学生阅读技能的培养。文章主要分为两个部分,第一部分介绍大象,让大家认识大象的聪明能干;第二部分话锋一转,介绍了大象的生存现状,呼吁大家保护大象。学生将在交流与表达中掌握英语知识,从而学会分析问题,解决问题,学会与人交流,并在交流中了解世界各地野生动物的情况,增加地理知识,热爱大自然,挽救濒临灭绝的动物。
二、教学目标:
1.Knowledge aims:
学生能够认读和理解下列词语
save, symbol, flag, forget, get lost, place, danger, be in great danger, cut down, kill, ivory, over,(be) made of , Thailand
2.Ability aims:
a. 学生能够通过速读清楚文章结构和段落大意。
b. 学生能够通过寻读搜查细节信息。
c. 能够归纳语篇的中心意思,构建思维导图,将零碎信息进行分类整理,抓住重要信息。
3.Emotion aims:
加强学生对濒危动物的了解,培养学生的动物保护意识和人文素养。
三、教学重、难点
教学重点:培养学生的阅读技能以及构建思维导图的阅读策略。
教学难点:文章篇幅较长,生词较多,这些会成为学生阅读中的障碍。

Hello. We are students from Thailand, and we want to save the elephants. The elephant is one of Thailand’s symbols. Our first flag had a white elephant on it. This is a symbol of good luck.
Elephants are smart animals. They can play soccer or music. They can also draw very well. People say that“ an elephant never forgets”. Elephants can walk for a long time and never get lost. They can alsoremember places with food and water. This helps them to live.
But elephants are in great danger. People cut down many trees so elephants are losing their home. People also kill elephants for their ivory. Today there are only 3,000 elephats (over 100,000). We must save the trees and not buy things made of ivory.
