设计思想
本单元围绕着“难忘事件”这一话题展开设计活动,结合学生亲身经历设计活动,练习讲述过去发生的事情。这一话题非常接近学生生活实际,学生非常感兴趣。因此我设计了通过PPT里的人物做某些动作而导入新的时态的方式,这样学生很自然得就将明白了这个单元将要讨论的话题。对于教材的使用我设计将活动通过小组合作的方式对所学的新句型进行理解应用。一方面使所有学生都有机会进行说的练习,另一方面也使学生在问答的过程中能及时纠正错误,尤其是前不忘be后加ing ,我特别利用“以旧引新”的方式---由学生熟悉的现在进行时推出过去进行时;因为3a 是阅读教学,所以我培养学生利用图片信息和文章标题获取文章大意,利用思维导图的提示概括文章大意。在教学过程中,关注学生的生活实际和生活体验,树立以学生为本的思想,提倡学生参与、体验、亲身实践、独立思考、合作探究,从而实现教学方式和学习方式的转变。
教学分析
本节课围绕着一个话题“谈论Ben小区里的人们特别是Ben一家在暴风雨来临前后的活动”来展开教学活动,主要的教学内容是过去进行时,阅读部分是这节课的核心内容,它的任务不仅仅是训练和提高阅读技能,也涵盖了实际交际、语法、词汇和知识点等内容,同时它还培养学生在危难中互助的精神。本节课紧扣教材,而又脱离课本,重新对教材进行编排。先通过描绘图片中人们的活动来学习词汇: storm,?report, area, wind, light, wood, window, flashlight, match, beat, heavily, asleep, fall asleep, die down ……并通过问答“人们那个时候正在做什么”来学习句型:What were you doing when the rainstorm came?? I was watching TV/exercising .合作的方式进一步加强句型的操练。然后训练学生通过跳读,迅速抓住文章的主题,再通过祥读了解文章的细节;最后复述掌握文章的知识点。

教学过程
Step1: Warming up and lead-in
1. Show a basketball and say: look, I like playing basketball. I’m playing basketball now.(I make the action of playing basketball)
T: I’m talking now.
I’m running.
When I make the actions, I ask some students to guess the meaning of the sentences.
2.Using a conversation in PPT, get the Ss to remember the Present Progressive Tense.
3.Using the pictures in PPT, review the Past progressive tense.
4. Ask the Ss, “Do you remember last class’ rainstorm? What were the people doing when the rainstorm came? The girl was… The woman was….
Now let’s read about another storm.
(设计意图:通过复习现在进行时,引出类似结构的过去进行时,再回顾上节课的内容,这样既复习了过去进行时,又导入了新课。)
Step2 Reading
1.Before reading
Using some video pictures, ask the Ss what had happened in each picture.
While reading
Have the Ss to read the passage in 3a silently and as quickly as they can to catch the main idea. Answer the question: What happened in Ben’s neighborhood?
(设计意图:训练学生集中精力快速阅读,敏锐捕获信息的能力---跳读的能力。此环节设计简单,目的是让学生树立信心。)
(2)Read the passage carefully and silently to find the specific ideas. And try not to look up the new words, but try to ignore or guess their meanings. Answer the following questions:
a. What was the weather like before the heavy rain started?
b. What were Ben’s dad and mom doing just before the storm?
c. What was Ben doing just before the storm?
d. When did Ben fall asleep?
e. What was the neighborhood like after the storm?
(3) Read again (Have the Ss finish 3b)
Try to complete the sentences using information from the passage.(Show the Chinese meaning and phonetic symbols of the new words on the PPT.)
(4)Read it once more to pick up the sentences with the Past Progressive Tense.
