第1课时教学设计
Period 1 (1a–2d)
一、教学目标:
1. 语言知识目标:
1) 能掌握以下单词red, yellow, green, blue, black, white, purple, brown, the, now, see, can, say, my, S/M/L, UFO, CCTV.
能掌握以下句型:
—What’s this? --It’s V.
2.—What color is it? --It’s red.
2) Learn to read and write the letters Ss--Zz.
2. 情感态度价值观目标:
通过本单元的学习,学生能够熟练地掌握和运用26个字母及其分类,尤其是五个元音字母;能够熟练的谈论各种物体的颜色;同时教师鼓励学生细心观察周围物体的颜色,培养学生发现美、创造美的意识。

Ⅰ. Review/Lead-in
1.Review letters I--R
T: Can you say the letters from A to R?
Ss:Yes.A,B, C,D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R.
Lead-in
Show some pictures of women to teach different colors.
Work on 1a
T: Look at the picture in 1a carefully and tell me what you can see then.
S1:There are five students.
S2:There are some balloons with different letters on it.
T:Letters? Are they alike?
S2: No, they aren’t. They are in different colors.
T:Great! Can you match the words with the colors? Please write the letter for each color on the line next to each word.
Do it individually, and then I’ll check your answers.
(While the students are doing, the teacher moves around to help the ones who need help.)
Ⅱ. New words

V. Pair work

(1) Ask the students to practice the conversation in pairs.
(2) Put the students in pairs. Ask them to make their own conversations using the things in the picture.
(3) Leave them several minutes to do this activity.
(4) Invite some pairs to act out their conversations.
Ⅵ. Listening
1.Work on 2a
(1)Show the 8 letters Ss--Zz on the screen, and teach the students to read them one by one.21
(2)Ask students to listen to the tape and read after it.
(3)Teacher shows some letter cards and invite some students to read these letters, correcting their pronunciation mistakes if there is any.
2.Teach activity 2b
(1)Play the tape for the first time. Students listen.
(2)Play the tape for the second time. Students listen and number the letters.
(3)Play the tape for the third time. Students listen and check their answers.
Ⅶ. Practice
1. Work on 2c~2d
(1)Present the letters Ss--Zz on the PPT.
(2)Remind students the writing forms of the capital letters and small letters.
(3) Ask students to write the letters Ss--Zz after each model. At the same time, ask two students to write on the blackboard.
(4) While students are writing, move around the room, checking progress and offering help if needed.
(5) Check the answers. Correct mistakes if any.
2. Work on 2e
(1)Show the letters and the meanings the students know.
(2)Show the pictures in 2e on the screen.
T:What can you see in the picture?(the first picture)
S1:Three big letters S, M and L.
T:What do these letters mean?
S2:S stands for small, M for medium and L for large.

2. Copy letters Ss--Zz three times.
3. Read and copy the words on S9.

Play a guessing game
(1)Let students write the eight colors on eight pieces of paper.
(2)Choose a group of students to put up their eight pieces of paper on the right things.
For example, put up with the word “white” on the white wall in the classroom.
(3)Check the answers together.
Review the words yellow, white, black, brown, purple, orange, red, green in the same way.
Ⅳ. Listening
1. Work on 3a
(1)T: Please open your books and turn to page S11. Look at the pictures in 3a. What’s this in English?(Point to the things.)
Ss: It’s a cup/ ruler/ key.
(2) T: Now, I’ll play the recording twice for you to listen. The first time, you just listen and number the pictures. The second time, you can check your answers.
2. Work on 3b
(1) Play the recording for the students to listen and ask them to complete the sentences.
T:Now please look at the sentences in 3b. There are some uncompleted sentences. You can listen to the recording and complete them.
(2) Play the recording again and check the answers.
(3) T:”The key is yellow.” means “It’s a yellow key.” What does “The ruler is...” mean?
Ss: It means “It’s a ... ruler.”
3. Work on 3c
(1) Listen to the conversation for the first time.
(2) Listen to it again and ask students to listen for the things.
(3) Ask students to listen again and fill in the colors in the chart.

Summary:
In this period, we’ve further practiced the sentence structures learnt in Starter Units 1--3. And we’ve also consolidated the 26 letters, and reviewed the pronunciation of them.
Homework:
1. Practice the conversation and recite it.
2. Write the key words and the sentences in your exercise books.
3. Write the 26 letters you’ve learned three times.
