根据《英语新课程标准》关于总目标的具体描述,结合第五单元的教材内容,按语言目标、能力目标、情感目标三个方面将本课时的教学目标细化:
一、教学目标
1、语言目标
(1)语言结构:过去进行时态 sb. + was /were + doing
(2)语言功能:利用过去进行时态讲述过去发生的故事。
(3)知识目标:词汇:rainstorm, alarm, go off, begin, heavily, suddenly等。
句型:What was she /were you doing when the rainstorm came ?
She was / I were waiting for the bus .
2、能力目标:通过掌握关键词汇和目标语言,学生能够描述过去发生的事情。
3、情感目标:鼓励学生在日常生活中尽可能多的帮助别人。
二、教学重点及难点
重点:语法:过去进行时的用法。 (1)过去进行时的用法:表示在过去某一时刻或某一段时间内正在进行的动作。 (2)过去进行时态中动词形式:sb. + was /were + doing (主语为第一、第三人称单数时,用was, 其他人称用were.)
难点:学生运用过去进行时态描述过去发生的事情。
教学过程设计
Step 1: Lead in (three minutes)
教师出示图片,通过询问问题What is she / he doing ? 玩猜测游戏,导入新课。
 (设计意图:通过游戏导入新课,使学生在欢快自然的气氛中不知不觉地进入教学,激发学生的学习兴趣和热情,活跃课堂气氛,并为本课任务的开展做热身准备。简单的日常口语练习,调动了学生的积极性,让学生们都敢于大声说英语,进入英语交际氛围。)
?Step 2 : Presentation (fifteen minutes)
教师出示男孩踢足球图片,用已学句型询问问题Where is he ? What is he doing ?,利用幻灯片,变化句子中的时间状语,出示本节课新的句型What was he doing ?并引导学生回答 He was playing soccer. 出示学生在教室的照片,变化人称练习过去进行时态。 --Where were you when the teacher came in ? --I was …

在这两组对话中,引导学生总结出过去进行时态的定义和结构,并且用例句巩固语法知识。
(设计意图:利用生动的幻灯片,让学生清晰的感受时间状语的变化,自然的由现在进行时态向过去进行时态过渡。通过观察句子中的结构,引导学生总结出过去进行时态的定义和结构,充分发挥学生学习的自主性。)
教师利用动态图片,出示新单词rainstorm 。向学生提出问题: Where were the people when the rainstorm came ? What were the people doing when the rainstorm came ? 带领学生一起去看看,暴风雨来临的时候人们在做什么。出示课本中的图片,引导学生用不同方式学习对话。

(设计意图:给学生创造一个真实的语境,练习方式多样化,能较好的吸引学生们的注意力,激起他们的求知欲,使他们能以一种积极情绪投入到课堂活动中。)
?Step3 : Pair work(nine minutes)
教师出示“爸爸去哪儿”图片,通过询问问题为学生创设真实语境。Do you know them ? I visited them yesterday .What were they doing when I visited them ?学生根据图片与搭档练习对话并展示成果。
(设计意图:利用学生感兴趣的“爸爸去哪儿”话题,创设真实情境。让学生直观的了解到自己所要编的对话的框架,使本课教学目标中的重、难点得到进一步的巩固。)
Step4:Listening ( Seven minutes )
由上一环节中的内容why Kimi was crying when I visited him进入这一环节。
播放2a部分的录音,学生根据录音将图片排序,了解故事的大体内容。
领读听力材料中的新单词或词组,为接下来的听力练习做准备。
播放2b部分的录音,学生将听力材料填空,完成一篇完整的故事。
(设计意图:上一环节中学生知道Kimi哭了,教师抛出问题为什么哭呢,学生带着好奇听录音,会努力抓住关键信息。通过这项操练,锻炼学生获取信息的能力,这一步骤主要采用任务型语言教学(Task-based Language Teaching),在听力中使用目标语言,为下一阶段的学习做准备。)
Step5:Group work (ten minutes)
师:Kimi woke up late ,missed the bus and got wet in the rain . It was terrible . But it wasn’t over .In the evening , Kimi’s motorbike was stolen .教师利用上一环节内容,为学生介绍题目背景并提出要求:Please help the policeman make a survey in your group . What were they doing at 7:00 / 8:00 last night ? 学生根据教师出示的图表和句型进行小组讨论,以一封信的形式呈现讨论结果。教师根据学生的成果展示,进行情感升华,将本节课推到高潮。
(设计意图:本活动属于深层思维训练及“寓德育于教学中”环节,旨在通过讨论,使学生对课本内容进行延伸,让学生即学即用,锻炼学生写作能力的同时引导学生在生活中形成尽可能多的帮助别人的好品质。)
Step6:Homework ( one minute)
用英语写出上周五放学回到家时,家人分别在做什么。
(设计意图:学生通过本节课的学习获得了语言储备,为语言的输出做好了铺垫。此环节设计的目的是让学生能够通过书面表达进一步巩固课堂所学的内容。题目要求与学生实际生活关系密切,为学生降低了难度。)
