Step 1 情景导入
The teacher points at a girl in the classroom and asks:

The teacher writes “What are you doing?”on the blackboard and asks in Chinese:这是什么时态?引导学生回答,复习现在进行时态的意义及结构。再问这位学生:“What were you doing when I came in?”,引入过去进行时态,板书课题,引出本节课的教学任务。
环节说明:以旧带新,由学过的现在进行时态引出过去进行时态,易于学生理解,降低学习难度,便于引起学生的学习兴趣。
