一、教材分析
依据《义务教育英语课程标准》，重视中外之间的文化渗透，开阔学生文化视野，提高学生的人文素养是英语学习最重要的目标之一。本节课是人教版新目标英语八年级下册Unit5 Section B 2b部分，以重大的突发事件为背景，通过人们的回忆讲述过去正在发生的事情。：
1.知识与能力目标
（1）能够推测或理解下列短语的意义和用法：shocked ,take down, in silence
（2）通过阅读文本提高学生迅速捕捉信息的能力、分析问题和解决问题的能力。
2.过程与方法
（1）通过运用跳读、略读的阅读方法，提高学生迅速捕捉信息的能力。
（2）通过运用细读的方法，提高学生对文本的理解能力分析和解决问题的能力
（3）通过思维导图的运用，提高学生对文章整体把握的能力。
3.情感态度与价值观
（1）通过了解恐怖事件以及人们对恐怖事件的认识，引导学生学会自我保护。
（2）通过了解让学生明白暴力解决不了问题，引导学生正确疏导负面情绪。
4.重点和难点
（1）重点：正确运用本课的语言信息总体概括人们对两次的回忆。
（2）难点：培养学生捕捉文章大意和分析细节信息的能力。

二、学情分析
现将本班学生的英语学习情况分析如下:
第一，初中学生的抽象思维能力比较低，形象思维能力强，但注意力容易分散。因此配以丰富的视频资料，从而增强学生的兴趣和注意力。根据教育心理学,如果学生对于一件事物有极大的兴趣,他们就会排除主观和客观的种种消极因素,尽量全身心地投入到知识的学习中去。课堂上尽量以鼓励表扬为主，鼓励学生开口说英语、特别是给差生创造机会，让他们尝试成功的喜悦。有人说：“教育的艺术是使学生喜欢你所教的东西。”课堂教学中，只有学生乐于参与，主动参与，学生的思维才会处于活跃状况，吸收知识才会迅速，学习英语才不会让学生觉得是“苦差事”。
第二，初二学生有着极强的求知欲和表现欲。根据学生的心理特点，我在课堂上多以表扬为主，注重对学生英语学习兴趣的培养，鼓励他们大胆说、积极做、努力讲！尽管这个年级的学生在有一定的英语基础，学习起来比较轻松，但在学习方法和学习策略上还有很大差距，尤其在阅读技巧和阅读能力方面还缺少锻炼。因此在实施英语教学的过程中，教授学生新知的同时更重视对学生阅读能力的培养。同时，培养学生养成良好的听、说、读、写等学习习惯，提高课堂教学效率。
第三，特别重视别人的评价。初二孩子大约13岁左右，这个年龄的孩子主要通过他人的评价初步形成对自己的评价，所以很在乎他人的评价。所以，在教学过程中，我特别重视启发引导，尽量通过任务型教学法、情景教学法来激发学生的兴趣，让学生乐学，并易于接受。并随机鼓励和肯定。
总之，初二学生，对英语的学习热情较高，可塑性较强，只要在教学中，教师加强对学生的学法引导和学习习惯的培养，学生的英语学习一定会取得很大的进步。
三、教学理念及教学策略选择与设计
根据新课标阅读课的基本要求，我运用了跳读和细读的阅读方法，重在提高学生迅速捕捉语言信息和分析问题、解决问题的能力。鉴于学生的年龄特点，阅读过程中，适当视频资料和小组合作的活动，激发学生们的学生的学习兴趣和乐趣。

回顾视频内容，引入本课课题:Do you remember what you were doing?

展示两个与文本相关的问题1.What’s the main idea of the passage?

通过小视频简单了解马丁路德金，激发学生的阅读热情，然后出示第一个事件的思维导图，引导学生利用五要素来整体把握一个事件。
利用板书引导学生把握第一事件的要素，并能简单概括此事件。
通过完好无埙的世贸中心图片，然后加以911事件的视频资料，勾起学生了解第二个历史事件的欲望，然后细读第二个事件，并找出文中的同义句。

通过一段小视频让学生了解911事件的始末，引出恐怖主义并不会消失，引出诸多学生被害事件，从而引导学生小组讨论自我保护以及遇到这种情况时如何帮助他人。

师生互动讨论歌手以及歌曲内涵，引入课题。
出示问题，并指导学生阅读技巧，让学生带着问题寻找答案，提高学生迅速捕捉信息的能力。读完核对并解析答案，提出问题，引导学生有进一步阅读的欲望。
教师引导学生细读第一二段，让学生抓住细节信息。提高学生分析问题的能力。
先给学生适当准备时间，然后对事件的要素进行回顾，然后引领学生整体把握第一事件，然后让学生适当准备并进行自我概括。
通过展示双子塔的图片，引出世贸中心，再利用飞机撞击世贸中心的视频资料，引出第二次历史事件。通过找同义句的设计，一方面展示了事件的要素，另一方面对文章的重点短语和句型适当强调。
先让学生通过对几个重点句型的熟读，得以提取这一历史事件的要素。然后对事件的要素进行回顾，然后引领学生整体把握这一事件，然后让学生适当准备并进行自我概括。
整体把握第二件历史事件之后，学生必然意犹未尽，从而给以小视频，得以更多了解911事件的信息，然后引出诸多学生被害事件，尤其是中学生被害问题，从而引出在日常生活中该如何避免自己发生 此类事件以及当他人遇到这种情况时该如何帮助，小组讨论，老师可参与讨论并加以展示。
总结刚才的讨论结果，并加以总结，一方面需要学会自我保护，另一方面需要正确疏导自己的情绪，明白暴力解决不了问题。

五、教学及学习建议（课后反思）
本课教学活动设计以两件历史事件为主线，让学生学会利用思维导图来整体把握事件，在此基础上引导学生学会自我保护以及明白暴力解决不了问题，从而要学会正确疏导自己的负面情绪。在设计这课教学活动时，我主要注意到了以下几点：
（1）活动的目的性和可操作性；
（2）活动中贴合学生的真实生活，更提高学生的参与兴趣；
（3）通过阅读文本让学生习得英语语言知识、更重要的是发展学生的语言技能；
（4）分组活动时尽量创造机会，促使学生主动获取、处理和使用信息，尝试用英语与他人交流，提高用英语解决实际问题的能力；
（5）鼓励学生小组团结合作；
（6）穿插竞争机制， 活跃课堂氛围；
（7）注重了情感教育的培养，爱好和平，反对暴力。
不足之处：
（1）板书时课题占比不够协调，导致整个版面看起来不够规范；
（2）选择提问学生时有时费时较多。
总之，在设计这一课时， 我做到了尊重学生个性发展，在面向全体学生的基础上，由浅入深，由已知到未知，循序渐进地深化教学内容。展开以教师为主导以学生为主体的师生双边活动。注重教学的直观性和趣味性，加大了课堂密度。培养了学生辨别、理解、分析、运用语言的能力。不足之处，以后会多加努力，争取改正。
