How’s the weather in +地方?= What’s the weather like in +地方?
答语:It’s sunny/cloudy/windy/rainy/snowy/icy.
e.g. How is the weather in Moscow? It’s icy.
What’s the weather like in Boston? It’s sunny.
难点:What is+单数主语+doing now? What are+复数主语+ doing right now?
单数主语+is +v现在分词. 复数主语+are +v现在分词.

3. Presentation

4. Listenning
T: Mr. Smith is a businessman(商人).He is very busy. Next week, he will go to ….?How’s the weather in these places?
S: Play the tape and get Ss to write the city names in the boxes. Check the answers.
5. Pair work
Show a weather map of China. Get Ss to make a weather report as a CCTV anchor. They may begin with asking the weather in each city, then make up a report about it.

本环节的设计主要是将课本1b的听力和1c的对话练习相结合,进行第一轮的听说训练。
6. Presentation
Show pictures ,practice with the structures: How’s the weather? And what are they doing on a …day?
7. Listenning
T: what are they doing in the picture 2a?
Ss: He is…,She is…
T:After showing the cartoon, ask Ss: What are they doing? (They are singing and dancing.) Show more pictures with questions: What’s he/she doing? and What’re they doing? to get Ss to practice the tense which is the core grammar of this period. Get Ss to guess out the word cook by the picture. Choosing the right words and pair work are added as the reinforcements.
T:Let’s see what Joe’s families are doing. Point to the 4 pictures (The girl in the second picture is talking on the phone with the first speaker.). Ask Ss tell each person is doing in each picture. More attentions should be paid to the correct use of the Present Progressive Tense. Use every hint to finish 2b.
8.Group work
Play the tape for another time. Then do a memory test. Ask Ss: What’s Uncle Joe/Jeff/Mary/Aunt Sarah doing? What’re Scott and Lucy doing? Is Jeff watching TV? Etc.

本环节的设计主要是将课本2a、2b的听力和2c的对话练习相结合,进行第二轮的听说训练。由于图片比较复杂,所以在听力之前先带领学生熟悉图片内容,从而降低听力的难度。在小姑合作的环节争取让每一名同学都参与到课堂教学中来。
