Teaching aims and learning objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. know how robots could help us;
2. talk about the usage of robots.
Teaching contents
1. New words and phrases: robot, post, brain, whatever, explore, outer space, put out fires
2. New structures: I’m complaining about you to the robot shop.
I don’t know when I’ll post the letter for you.
So they could do whatever they are asked to.
Teaching focus:To talk about the usage of the robots.
Teaching difficulties:Help students learn to talk about what a robot can do and some of the advantages of robots.

Step 1 Lead-in
Free talk
Do you like robots?Why or why not?
2. What kinds of robot do you know?
Step 2 Presentation
Show students some kinds of robots.
Tell students what robots can do today.
Students finish PartA on page37.
Step 3 Practice
Amy is asking Daniel how robots could help us in our daily lives. Work in pairs and talk about your ideas.
Listen to the conversation between Amy and Daniel and answer some questions:
In Daniel’s opinion, would robots have brains in the future?
Could robots do whatever they’re asked to?
What kind of dangerous jobs could they help us do?
What could they help us students?
Role-read the conversation.
Fill in the blanks.
Step4 Discussion
1.Discuss in groups of four:What other things can a robot do for us?
2.Make up a new conversation with your partner.
Step5 Presentation
Play the video about Eddie and Hobo.
Ask students some questions:
What is Eddie doing?
Why does Eddie want to complain to the robot shop?
What does Eddie want Hobo to do?
Why doesn’t Hobo post the letter for Eddie?
Read after the tape.
Role-read the conversation.
Act out the conversation.
Fill in the blanks.

Have an interview:Are robots good or bad?

1. Remember the new words and phrases.
2. Read the dialogue in Comic strip fluently.
