The Olympic Games in Ancient Greece
Introduction
In the ancient times, every four years in the summer period, a major event, which lasted seven days, was held in Olympia(奥林匹亚), a city in Ancient Greece(古希腊). it included religious rituals(宗教仪式) and athletic games(运动项目).
The first written testimonies(证据) with the names of winners, date back from the year 776BC.
The Palaestra(体育场), a square building-3rd century BC. It was an area in which athletes trained for wrestling, boxing and jumping.
