Language points
1.I study by working with a group. by+ v.-ing 表示通过做某事。
2.辨析aloud, loud和loudly
aloud出声地;大声地。常与read/ call等词连用, 不用于比较级。
loud 大声地;喧闹地。指说话声和笑声,常与talk/ speak/ laugh/ sing等词连用, 常用比较级。
loudly 高声地;喧闹地。可以和loud互换,含有“吵闹”的意思,不悦耳。
3. It’s+too+adj./adv.+ (for sb.)+to do sth. 意思是“(对某人来说)做某事是……的”。
too ... to ... 结构常表示“太……而不能……”, too后面接形容词或副词, to后面接动词原形。
The more you read, the faster you’ll be. 你读得越多,你读得越快。(教材第2页)
The+比较级..., the+比较级...表示“越……越……”。

Language points
1. find用法归纳
find sb. doing sth. 发现某人做某事;find it + adj. + to do sth. 发现做某事很……find it + adj. +to do sth.中的it是形式宾语, adj.作宾补, to do sth.是真正的宾语。同类的动词还有think, feel, consider等。
2. afraid用法归纳
be afraid of sth./doing sth.害怕做某事(担心出现某种不良后果)
be afraid to do sth.害怕去做某事(“怕” 或“不敢”去做某事)
be afraid +that恐怕……(礼貌地说出令人不快、失望或感到遗憾的事)
3. a piece of cake表示事情非常简单、易于解决, 相当于汉语的“小菜一碟; 小事一桩”; serves sb. right则相当于汉语说某人“活该”。

语法拓展:动名词
定义: 它是一种兼有动词和名词特征的非谓语动词形式。
基本形式: v.-ing
作用: 动名词具有名词的性质,在句中可以作主语、表语、宾语、定语等。
基本用法:
1. 用作主语
所表动作比较抽象,或者泛指习惯性的动作。
Playing with fire is dangerous.玩火危险。
注意:动名词作主语,有时先用it作形式主语,把动名词置于句末。这种用法在习惯句型中常用。
(1)It is no use/ good / useless + doing …
(2)It is a waste of time + doing …
(3)It is fun + doing …
It’s no use crying over spilt milk. 覆水难收。
It is fun playing with children. 和孩子们一起玩真好。
2. 用作宾语
(1)作动词的宾语 常见的此类动词有:practice, enjoy, finish, give up, cannot help, keep, keep on, mind, miss, put off, depend on, think about, succeed in, worry about, be used to, get used to, look forward to, pay attention to等。
How do you practice speaking?你如何练习讲话?
I have to finish reading a book and give a report.我不得不读完一本书,并且做一份报告。
(2)作介词的宾语
I learn English by doing grammar exercises.我通过做语法练习学英语。
Shall we have a rest or get down to doing our work?我们休息一下还是开始工作呢?
He was late again because of getting up late.由于起床晚了他再次迟到了。
Lock the doors and windows before going out. 出门前锁好门窗。
What/How about the two of us playing games?我们其中两个人玩游戏怎么样?
活学活用
1. She can’t help ________ (cry) after _________ (hear) the bad news.

注意:动名词的否定形式是:not v.-ing
动名词的复合结构:
动名词的逻辑主语+动名词=动名词的复合结构

my/ me 称为动名词的逻辑主语。

2.But whether or not you can do this well depends on your learning habits.但是你是否能把这做好取决于你的学习习惯。(教材第6页)
这句话中的主语是whether or not you can do this well,是由whether 引导的主语从句。
Whether she is coming or not doesn’t matter too much. 她来不来都无关紧要。
3.depend on 在这里的意思是“取决于……”。
Your success depends on whether you work hard or not.你的成败取决于你是否努力工作。
depend on 依赖;依靠
Children depend on their parents for food and clothing.小孩依赖他们的父母供给衣食。
4.Studies show that if you are interested in something, your brain is more active and it is also easier for you to pay attention to it for a long time.研究表明,如果你对某事感兴趣,你的大脑就会更活跃,你也更容易长时间关注它。(教材第6页)
(1)active adj. 活跃的,积极的,可作表语或定语。常用短语:take an active part in积极参加。
Although he is over 80, he is still very active. 他虽然年过八十,但是仍很活跃。
We all take a part in the sports meeting.我们都积极参加运动会。
(2) pay attention to 意为“注意,关注”,其中to 为介词,后可接名词、代词或动词-ing形式。
You’d better pay attention to this word in the English exam last time.你最好注意一下上次英语考试中的这个单词。
5. Good learners often connect what they need to learn with something they are interested.好的学习者常常将他们需要学习的东西与之感兴趣的东西联系起来。(教材第6页)
connect … with …意为“ 把……和……联系起来” ,其名词形式为connection,意为“连接;关系”。
Please don’t connect this person with that person. 请不要把这个人和那个人联系在一起。
6. Good learners think about what they are good at and what they need to practice more. 好的学习者考虑他们擅长什么和需要多练习什么。(教材第6页)
(1)Think about 意为“考虑”,其后接名词、代词、动词-ing形式或宾语从句。
They are thinking about a serious problem.他们正在考虑一个严肃的问题。
(2) be good at擅长,与do well in在某方面做得好同义。
He is good at English.= He does well in English.他擅长英语。
7. Even if you learn something well, you will forget it unless you use it.即使是你学得很好的东西,如果你不使用它,你就会忘记它。(教材第6页)
(1)even if 意为“即使,尽管”,用于引导让步状语从句,有退一步设想的意味,同义于“even though”。
I’ll help you, even if I must stay up the whole night. 即使熬夜一整晚我也要帮助你。
(2) forget 后直接跟名词、代词、动词不定式或动词-ing形式。
forget to do sth.和forget doing sth.两者意义完全不同。
forget to do sth.忘记去做某事
forget doing sth.忘记做过某事
I forget to turn off the light.我忘记关灯了。
I forget turning off the light.我忘记已经关灯了。
They also look for ways to review what they have learned.他们也设法复习已经学过的知识。(教材第6页)
(1)look for 意为“寻找” 后跟名词或代词作宾语。
They are looking for the missing child.他们在寻找失踪的孩子。
(2)比较:look for, find与 find out
look for寻找,强调寻找的动作和过程,是有目的的寻找。
find找到,发现,通常指找到或发现具体的东西,强调结果。
find out弄清,查明,多指通过调查、询问后搞清楚、弄明白,含经过困难、曲折的意味。
