三、 Analysis of the textbook and students:
a) Analysis of the textbook: The topic of the unit is “Ancient Stories”. Also, it arouses students to have the real emotion and interest as well as the practice of listening and speaking. The listening part introduces the course of the Trojan War, which enables students to know why the Greeks want to capture the city of Troy. The content in the speaking part is role play of the Trojan War. It creates the real scene for the Ss to feel the taste of the language and help the Ss learn by using,make them more interested in speaking English and build up their confidence.
b) Analysis of the students: As the students of Junior two, they know the Chinese ancient stories very well. However, they are not able to tell them in English. Also they are not familiar with the western ancient stories. But they are interested in the stories. It’s very necessary for me to tell them why the war started. I should develop their skills of prediction and how to answer questions with complete sentences. After listening practice, it’s possible and necessary for them to role play the story. Students can learn better through cooperate study. They can learn each other through the group work.
四、 Teaching aims:
1. Knowledge aim:
a. To acquire some important new words and useful sentence patterns, such as, prince,queen, steal, punish and in the end
b. To learn about the internal relationship of the Trojan War by listening to some information.
2. Ability aim:
a) To develop the listening skills of predicting the information with the help of the pictures and key words. b) To retell the information about the development of the story after listening.
3. Feeling and attitudes aims:
a). To realize that they should love the western ancient story because there are a lot of knowledge and wisdom in the stories.
b). To know they should be cooperative with others.

1. Teaching important points:
a) To develop the listening skills of prediction.
b) Help students learn how to retell information with complete sentences.
c) Help the students to tell the story with important phrases and sentences patterns
2. Teaching difficult points:
a) To develop the listening skills of prediction before listening, the skill of taking notes and finding the key words.
b) To retell the listening about the reason of the Trojan Was after listening.

Warming up: (5 mins)
1.Ask the Ss to retell the Trojan Horse according to the the picture. Show some pictures, which are related to the key elements of introducing the Trojan Horse. 2.Introduce the students to three main characters.
Retell the stories. Learn some information and main characters from the picture.
To arouse the students’ interest, background knowledge.
Step 1: (5 mins) Task 1
1. Show map of the Sparta and Troy, introduce the background information. The prince of the Troy Paris met the beautiful lady Queen Helen imagine “What happen?”
2. Have the Ss predict the information about the story and try to correct the pictures by predicting.
3. Teach some new words with the help of the phonetics.
4.Listen to the recording for the first time and try to correct the pictures in the right order.
1.Understand the learning aims by the teacher’s talking.
2. Make a prediction and try to describe the pictures with their own words.

Step 2: Task B listening and complete (10 mins)
1. Have the Ss read the information , guess the missing words.
2.Ask them to share what kind of words they may write down.(5 mins) 3. Ask some volunteers to share their conclusions
4. Have the Ss listen twice and complete part B .
5. Check whether students guess the correct answers. (2 mins)

2. Discuss the predictions in pairs before listening and share what kind of words they may write down.

4. Listen to the tape carefully and write down the answers. (2 mins)
1. To train the skill of prediction before listening.

3. If students share their conclusions, the teacher will know whether have grasped the skill.
Step 3 Retell (4mins )
1. Teach students to retell the listening with sentence pattern of “S.+V.”.
2. Invite students to retell the listening and the other students to give comments.
1. Some students retell the listening in the class and others give comments. 2.Ask some questions and help them to conclude the clues of the story.
1. Lead students to learn about how retell information with the key words after listening.
2. Encourage students to give others comments and learn from each other.
Step 4: (4mins) Read the script and summarize how to introduce a city
1. Require students to read the tape script.
2. Ask them to find out the important sentence patterns in the script and explain how to use it. 3. complete the mind-map of introducing a story on the Bb
1. Follow the tape to read the script in a low voice.
2. Find out the important sentence structure.
3. To learn how to introduce a city better with the help of the tape script.
To enable students to know some good sentence patterns and learn how to introduce a city while reading the script.
Step 5: Group work (10 minutes)
1. Have groups to role play the Trojan Horse on P91.
2. Ask the students to prepare and role play in group.
3. Ask students to give performance and other students give comments.
