一、单元教学目标
语用任务
1.能在情景对话和视听熏陶中理解并运用本单元的核心词汇:air,everywhere,alive,plant,keep…alive,factory,smoke,dirty,clean,fresh,plant trees
2.能在学习单词的过程中,正确拼读单词,感知并掌握一些简单的发音规律。
3.能够在生活和学习中,运用句型It keeps them high in the sky/It makes the air dirty等来讨论空气的特征和作用,能通过问题What makes the air dirty?来引导学生关注和讨论环保和空气污染问题
知识与技能
1.通过Listen and say 的小诗,练习和体会核心句型,了解空气的特征和作用
2.通过Say and act的情景对话,理解核心句型的含义和用法。
3.通过Ask and answer的问答练习运用核心句型并联系实际,围绕空气污染展开讨论。
4.通过Think and write的写作练习,综合运用本单元所学句型描述空气的重要性和空气污染的原因,并对如何保持空气洁净给出建议。
文化与情感
1.通过本课话题引导学生关注和了解空气的重要性和空气污染的原因,树立环保意识。
2.学习用英语围绕一个话题进行表达和讨论,提升学生运用英语的能力和口头表达能力。
3.通过学生使用英语,形成小组合作,使他们在语言体验的氛围中形成积极的情感,团队意识和责任感。

方法与策略
1.教师组织学生小组合作,发挥学生主动学习,合作去探究完成学习任务。
2.善于使用教学辅助工具,创设情景教学让学生去感受和体会等,让学生积极主动地参与到课堂教学。
3.利用小组对话,分角色扮演,朗颂比赛,小品等教学手段学习新知,激发学生学习语言的兴趣,在听说读写等方面加强学生的语言能力。

Air is amazing!
Look! They are kites.
They can fly in the sky gently.
They need air.

Air is useful.
Look! They are sailing boats.
They can move on water quickly.
They need air.
It keeps them fast on the water.
Air is helpful.
Look! They are hot-air balloons.
They can fly in the sky slowly.
They need air.
It keeps them high in the sky.
Air is wonderful.
Look! They are parachutes.
They can fall to the ground slowly.
They need air.
It keeps them from falling quickly.
Air is powerful.
Ben: The air is so dirty in the street. What’s the matter, Kitty? Are you crying?
Kitty: I’m not crying. My eyes hurt. It’s the smoke. It’s black and smelly.
Ben: Where is the smoke from?
Kitty: It’s from the cars and buses.
Ben: The black smoke is from the factory. It makes the air dirty.
Kitty: Let’s go to the park, Ben. The air is clean there.
Ben: OK.
Kitty: The air is so fresh and clean in the park. I feel comfortable now.
Ben: Yes. There are a lot of trees and grass in the park. They keep the air clean.
Kitty: We should plant more trees and keep the air clean.
Ben: Yes! We shouldn’t make black smoke from the factory. We should keep our city clean.

A. Air
Air is all around us.
It is around us as we walk and play.
From the time we are born air is around us on every side.
When we sit down.
it is around us.
When we go to bed,
air is also around us.
We live in air.
We can live without food or water for a few days,
but we cannot live for more than a few minutes without air.
We take in air.
When we are working or running we need more air.
When we are asleep, we need less air.
We live in air. but we cannot see it.
We can only feel it.
We can feel it when it is moving.
Moving air is called wind.
How can we make air move? Here is one way.
Hold an open book in front of your face, close it quickly.
What can you feel?
What you feel is air.
B.A balloon ride
On Sunday My family and I went for a ride in a hot air balloon. Early in the morning we went to a park outside the city. There was a big blue and white balloon in the grass. We met the pilot and the other passengers.
A burner made hot air. The hot air went into the balloon and lifted it up. We all stood in a big basket beneath the balloon and went up into the sky. It was exciting.
The weather was good. The wind wasn’t strong. We floated over the city in our beautiful balloon.
I loved looking down at the city. We could see all the buildings, roads and parks. We could see the river.
We stayed up in the air for one hour. Everyone had a wonderful time!
C. Taking a flight
Annie Ross is going on a plane with her parents. They are flying from London to New York. They are going to visit Annie’s grandparents in New York. This is Annie’s first time on plane.
When they get on the plane, they find their seat belts. Everyone is excited .
The flight takes about six hours. Annie reads a book with her mom. Her das takes a nap.
The flight crew serves lunch to the passengers. Annie and her parents are hungry. They enjoy the food.
Soon the captain makes an announcement. He tells the passengers to put on their seat belts. The plane will land in New York soon. Annie and her parents are happy. They can’t wait to see New York.
D. Thailand
Bangkok is the capital of Thailand. It is very different from Guangzhou. There are many temples in Bangkok. It is hot all year round, so there are a lot of fruits. The most famous fruit is durian. There are many rivers in the city, so the ―market on the water. It is very famous. You can buy flowers, vegetables, fruits and other things on the boats.
  The best time to visit Thailand is at the end of March or the beginning of April, because it is the biggest festival in Thailand– Water festival. It is the beginning of their New Year. Before the festival, people clean their house and cook nice food. During the festival, people sing, dance and throw water on each other. They think that water can clean away bad things and bring good luck. How interesting it is!
