A. imperative sentences
1) Put up a picture on the wall.
We start a sentence with the base form of a verb when we want to tell people what to do.
Explain the structure of imperative sentences
More example present.
3) Please fix the shelf for me.
Don't touch the wet paint, please.
We often add please in a sentence to make an instruction more polite.
Explain the structure of polite expression of imperative sentences.
4) Pair work
One student ask a place and the other show the instruction to get there.
5)Practice
Finish the practice on page 47.
B. Advice
1) You should know a little about DIY.
You should not put so many books on the shelf.
We use should when giving advice and telling people what we think is the best or right thing to do.
Negative form is should not or shouldn’t.
Explain the usage of should.
2) Your watch is broken. You had better buy a new one.
You had better not be late for school!
The tone of had better is stronger than should.
Negative form is had better not.
Pay attention about had is not past tense.
3) Practice
Finish the practice on page 48.
4) expansion
We use must to strongly advice others for it is very necessary.
You must go to school on time.
You mustn't steal anything.
Show the negative form and opposite meaning of must.
5) Activity
One student act Danny, and other students give order, instruction or advice.
Help Danny to spend a good day .(workday or holiday)
