Teaching aims:
1. Knowledge goals
1) Know something about elephants in Thailand.
2) Simple present tense.
2. Ability goals
Improve reading skills as well as speaking, listening and writing.
3. Emotional goals
Enable Ss to save and protect animals.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Warm up
Free talk
What animals do you like? Why?
设计意图：巩固A部分重点句型，为新课的展开做铺垫。
Step2 Lead in (Pre-reading)
Introduce African elephants and Asian elephants. Say something about their differences.
设计意图：宏观介绍大象的相关知识，有利于拓展学生的知识面，引起学习兴趣。
2.Watch a video of elephants. Then tell something about elephants.
设计意图：视频是后期剪辑，配音制作完成的。文本内容涵盖了文章的重点词句。通过观看视频，一方面学生对文章有整体感知，同时也增加对大象的了解。
Step3 Presentation (While-reading)
1. Fast reading
1)Find the topic sentence of each para.
设计意图：该篇文章结构清晰，每段的中心句也比较明显，学生可以比较容易地找到。找到中心句，有利于学生更好地理解文章内容。
2)Choose the best title.
设计意图：通过提炼每段中心句的关键信息，可以较轻松地找到合适的标题。标题引领整篇文章，找到了标题，学生可以从整体感知文章。

设计意图：对比以前和现在大象的数量，直观感受大象数量减少的事实。

5)Show animals in danger in the world. Mainly introduce giant pandas.
设计意图：简单介绍世界上其他濒危动物，主要介绍中国的国宝—大熊猫。大熊猫是中国标志性的动物，学生比较了解，也易接受。这也为下一写作活动做铺垫。
Step4. Writing (After reading)
If you are an elephant or a panda, what would you like to say to people? Write a letter to people.
设计意图：角色转换，学生更易体会濒临灭绝动物的处境，可以激发他们保护动物的热情，有利于情感目标的实现。
Step5. Homework
Surf on the Internet to know more information about animals in danger.
设计意图：有利于学生更好地了解濒危动物的处境，激发保护动物的热情。
