He went into a shop and when the jeweler turned his back, Wang Ping took the necklace and ran out of the shop. The shopkeeper shouted and a crowd of people gathered. The police went to Wang Ping’s home and questioned him. He denied he had stolen the necklace and told he had enough money to buy the necklace anyway. He said he had been at a restaurant with his wife. But a reporter, Zhou Yang , found this was untrue.
