Body language is one of the most powerful means of communication. It is often even more powerful than spoken language.
Sometimes the same body language may have different meanings. For example, in some Asia countries, it is polite to cover mouth with hand when you talk or laugh, but in north America, they use it only when they yawn(哈欠) or cough. What’s more, north Americans pat(轻拍) someone on the back as a sign of friendliness. They even use the idiom “a pat on the back”to mean encouragement, while Middle East countries think it is rude.
Also, different body languages can mean the same thing. Take “hello”for example, the French like to kiss cheeks(脸颊)to say “hello”. But the Japanese bow. People in New Zealand touch noses with each other when they meet. Homework:When in Rome, make gestures as the Romans do!THANKS PPT
