Lesson 1 Let’s watching TV!
This is the first lesson in this unit. The main topic is watching TV, so improving the students’ abilities of listening and talking about the topic of TV programs is very important.

Tape recorder, Multimedia
Step 1. Greetings and warm-up activities
Ask the students to practice the conversation about watching TV in groups by using these sentences: May I turn on the TV?
What should we do?
What TV programs do you like to watch?
I like to watch talk shows.
Step 2. Watch the cartoon and answer the questions
T: Let’s watch TV. May I turn on the TV? (课文导入)2
Questions: What TV programs does Jenny like to watch?
What TV programs does Danny like to watch?
Step 3. Listen, read and retell
Play the recording and ask the students to listen and check how many people speak.
Play it again and check the answers. Ask some students to correct the wrong ones.
Put the students into groups to practice the dialogue. The students repeat it several times, changing roles each time.
Ask the students to sum up the useful sentences in the dialogue.
Talk about the pictures in the PPT. Ask and answer in pairs.
Complete the passage with the correct form of the words from the box.
Step 4. Speaking
Work in pairs. Ask and answer the questions in the pictures.
A: Do you like Animal World?
B: No, I don’t like.
A: So what is your favorite show?
B: My favorite show is Comic World.
A: And what cartoon figure do you like best?
B: I like the Batman best.
Step 5. Homework
Copy the words and text of Lesson 1.
Recite the text well and practice the words.
靠持续不断的语言知识,而不是“玩”来培养学生持久的兴趣。小学英语教学是要重视培养兴趣,但不能单靠唱歌和玩游戏,单靠唱和玩不能培养学生持久的兴趣。新鲜劲过去,孩子们就会厌倦。所以,唱歌游戏应该作为小学生英语语言知识技能的一些手段、而不是培养兴趣的手段。我们可以采用多种手段帮助小学生在记忆力强的时期多记单词,多学习语言规则,并尽可能多创造模仿的机会,提高学生的语音和语调。在英语学习中,听、说、读、写、译物种能力是可以互补的。真正做到听说先行,读写跟上。光听说不读写,很难收获高效。只靠模仿不培养学习能力也难减轻学习负担。所以小学生还是应该认真进行语言学习。
