Lesson 4 Let’s Have a Party!
This is the fourth lesson in this unit. The main topic is playing the instrument, so improving the students’ abilities of listening and talking about the topic of instrument is very important.

Danny wants to play the piano.

To understand conversations involving playing the instrument.
To practice the conversation about the instrument with partners.

Help the students consolidating the usage of “be good at”.

Learn to use the structures: I am good at doing…
Tape recorder, Multimedia
Step 1. Greetings and warm-up activities
Ask the students to introduce the player in groups by using these sentences:
She/ He is a piano/violin/guitar/erhu player.
She/ He is good at playing the piano/violin/guitar/erhu.
Step 2. Watch the cartoon and answer the questions
T: I can play the piano. My grandma’s birthday is coming. We want to have a party for her.
(课文导入)
Questions: What does Danny want to do?
What can Li Ming do at the party?
Step 3. Listening and vocabulary
Play the recording in part 1.
Play it again and ask the students to check the words they hear.
Check the answers with the whole students.
Step 4. Listen, read and retell
1. Play the recording in part 3.
2. Play it again and check the answers. Ask some students to correct the wrong ones.
Put the students into groups to practice the dialogue. The students repeat it several times, changing roles each time.
Talk about the pictures in the PPT.
Step 5. Speaking
Work in pairs. Ask and answer the questions in the pictures.
A: What can you do at the party?
B: I can play the guitar.
A: What do you like to do at the party?
B: I like to play games.
Step 6. Homework
Copy the words and text of Lesson 4.
Recite the text well and practice the words.
