Lam (Lin Junjie) may still have a baby face, but his fans are watching him grow up quickly. On Saturday night, he won the Best New-comer Award at Taiwan’s 15th Golden Melody(金曲奖)in Taibei.
“It’s my first time to get such a big award(奖), and I’m very excited,” the Singaporean(新加坡的) star said, “I want to give it to my mum for Mothers’ Day.” His first album (专辑), Yue Xing Zhe, came out in 2003. It has many kinds of songs like pop, R&B and dance music.
Many of his songs are about young people. One song on the album, Hui Du Shu, tells the story of a middle school student. He is very upset (烦恼) because his parents make him study all the time. They don’t let him have fun. Lam sings about the boy’s problems in a funny way, and lots of young people like the song.
“His songs are about love and everyday life. I like his songs very much.” said Ma Yue, a student from Beijing No.101 Middle School.
Lam and another Singaporean pop singer A-do are good friends. Lam said he learned a lot from A-do. “We’re close friends, but our songs are different.’’ Lam said.
Lam’s favorite singer is Michael Jackson, and he wants to be as great as Jackson one day, “I hope everyone enjoys my music.”
