More than a hundred years ago, an American inventor called Howe had some problem with the design of his sewing machine. He could not get the thread to run smoothly around the needle. In his dream, a king wanted him to build a sewing machine, and told the soldiers to kill him because of his failure. Howe found a hole in the top of each soldier’s spear. Then he found the way to solve the problem and made the thread run through a small hole in the center of the needle. Finally, Howe succeeded in designing the first practical sewing machine.
