when ,while 都可以引导时间状语从句，但用法区别很大。一.when 所引导的时间状语从句既可以指时间点，也可以指时间段：可以和延续性动词连用，也可以和短暂性动词连用；而while 所引导的时间状语从句只指时间段，只能和延续性动词连用。eg.They arrived while we were having dinner.
=They arrived when we were having dinner.
