He came from a poor family and he had a reputation for being funny and pleasant to be around. He wrote many popular poems, like ‘To a Mouse’ and ‘The holy Fair’, which made him famous nationwide.. Due to a hard life and weak health, Burns died at a very young age and all of Scotland mourned his death, and many people donated money to support his family. He belonged to a movement of poets called the Romantic poets including keats and Wordsworth.
The Romantic Movement started around 1780 and lasted until 1830. Romantic poetry focused on concepts like freedom and beauty, and tends to use imagination and touch on strong feelings.
The Romantic poets were very interested in nature and that is why Burns used it as a theme in his famous poem, ‘A Red Red Rose’, which was written in the Scots language.Introduction to Robert BurnsAppreciating a poem

They were boiling beans on a beanstalk fire,
Came a plaintive voice from the pot,
“O, why since we sprang from the self-same root,
Should you kill me with anger hot?”

ConclusionWonderful poems in China and abroad have something in common. They have rhymes, use symbols. Some of them are intended to be songs, and they sound beautiful. So it’s necessary for us to learn Chinese and English well, so that we can appreciate the great literary works both in China and abroad.Homework1. 2. Read and appreciate another Burn’s poem To a mouse. To a mouse
Your small house, too, in ruin! Its feeble walls the winds are scattering! And nothing now, to build a new one,Of coarse grass green! And bleak December's winds coming,Both bitter and keen!
You saw the fields laid bare and wasted,And weary winter coming fast,And cozy here, beneath the blast,You thought to dwell,Till crash! the cruel plough passedOut through your cell.Thank you!
