课题：Unit 4 Entertainment

教材分析：
Oxford English (Shanghai Edition)—reading 第四单元主要围绕着休闲娱乐这个主题展开，要求学生在掌握大量关于休闲娱乐的单词，短语和句子的基础上，听懂相关对话和短文，并能用英文描述自己的娱乐生活。
学情分析：
本班是高一年级，全班共有八名学生，6名为低视力，两名为全盲。两名盲生，周芷逸，施喆凡和陈均寒的英语学习基础较好。其他3位低视力学生英语基础较差，词汇量低，本班学生大部分热爱学习，一半学生能认真完成老师布置的作业（书面作业和口头作业），另外一部分学生的学习习惯较差，不能按时完成作业（书面作业和口头作业）。
教学目标：
To help Ss get a general idea of the whole text through the three elements of a story: characters, setting and plot.
教学重点：
To help Ss understand the leading characters’ personalities by paying special attention to the use of different verbs: whisper, faint, shout, gasp, boom,etc.
教学难点：
To practice students’ abilities of reading, skimming and scanning
To raise Ss awareness of taking a proper attitude to towards challenge.

The first period
Lead-in
Do you like watching TV?
Can you tell me some types of TV programs? (documentary, song contest, concert, cartoons, cookery program, sit-com/situation comedy, drama, soap opera, weather…)
What is needed for making a program? ( actors, costumes, cameramen, lighting, director, producer, production assistants, studio, scenery, set, make-up artists…)
Finish Exercise A on page 46.
While-reading
Listen to the tape and answer questions: When/ where did the story happen? Who are in the story? What happened in the story?
Skim the text to further explore the basic elements of this story. Read the text quickly and compete the chart below.
Setting: Characters:
Plot
Six Ss make up a group and read the story in the roles of the director, Mandy, Angela, the announcer, Lester Li (host) and the narrator.
Present the reading in roles.
Post-reading stage
Fill in the proper words to summarize the story.
Mandy and Angela were waiting for the quiz programme to be filmed. One of the contestant fainted. Angela was chosen to be on stage. The announcer boomed it was time for Travel Quiz and the host came running out. The programme started. Angela did such a terrific job that she was soon ahead of the other two. Mandy was too excited to keep still. When Angela got the last question right, the audience clapped and she finally won the grand prize of a trip for two to Paris.
Homework: Listen to the tape and read the text aloud at least three times.
Complete Exercises D and E on pages 48-49.
