1. Look at the map. 看这张地图。
look at 意为“看, 看着”, 强调动作的进行; 而see意为“看, 看见”, 强调动作的结果。例如
Look at the blackboard! 看黑板！Look at me! 看看我！
强调“看”这一动作, 不强调结果。
Can you see me? 你能看见我吗？(强调结果是看见了, 还是没看见)
I can see it clearly.
我可以很清楚地看见。(强调结果)

north 名词或副词，意为“北方”，south “南方”，east“东方”，west“西方”，但注意：东南用英语表示为“southeast”, south在前，east在后，这与汉语的顺序相反。类似的还有：southwest(西南)，northeast(东北), northwest(西北)。如：
Shijiazhuang is southwest of Beijing.

4. North points up on a map.
point 动词，意为“指；指向”。与point有关的短语有：point at 意为“指着”，后面接动作的目标，表示用某物对准某人或某物，常指较近的。例如：
The teacher is pointing at the picture on the wall.
老师正指着墙上的画。
point to 意为“指向”，后接动作的方向，表示用手或指针朝向某人或某物，常指较远的。
Tom points to the mountain. 汤姆指向远方的大山。
point 还可作为名词，意为“点；小数点”。

country 名词,表示“国家”。 country一词的复数形式是countries,遵循“以辅音字母加y结尾的名词在由单数变复数时应变y为i再加es”的变化规则。诸如此类的词还有:baby(婴儿)—babies,family(家庭)—families。
【拓展】 (1)country作名词,可以被定冠词修饰,表示“全国人民”。
