Laurence Binyon was an excellent English poet. He wrote For the Fallen in mid September 1914 to remember the soldiers who died
in the battle, just a few weeks after the outbreak of the First World War.
When the war broke out, Laurence Binyon was working at the British Museum. During the war, he lost several close friends and his brother-in-law. Because he was too old to join the army(over 40). So he went to work for the Red Cross as a medical volunteer in 1916.They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old.
