3.大声朗读听力材料。
4.放下听力材料,要求学生模仿听力内容,利用2a,2b的信息分角色练习对话,完成2c的任务,然后邀请2-3对同学当堂演示,看哪一对的表现最佳。

▲I'd rather go to Blue Ocean because I like to listen to quiet music while I'm eating.我愿意去蓝色海洋餐馆因为我喜欢吃饭时享受安静的音乐。
I'd rather是I would rather的缩写,表示“宁愿……;愿意……”,后面加动词原形。
would rather do than do “宁愿……而不愿……”

Tina: Well…yes and no… 蒂娜:嗯,既开心又不开心……
yes and no 表示对某一问题的两可回答,意思是“既是又不是;不能说定”。
▲The more I got to know Julie,the more I've realized that we have a lot in common.我了解朱莉越多,我越发现我们有很多共同之处。
“The +比较级+从句,the +比较级+主句”表示“越……,越……”。这里的两个more都是副词much的比较级,表示程度。
▲Mmm…why don't you ask Alice to join you each time you do something with Julie? 嗯,每次和朱莉在一起的时候,你何不邀请艾丽斯加入呢?
这里each time引导时间状语从句,类似each time引导时间状语从句的连词还有every time,next time等。
▲Then she won't feel left out.那么她就不会觉得自己被冷落。
to be/feel left out 表示“被遗忘;被忽略;被冷落;被抛弃”之类的意思。

2.先邀请几位同学朗读短文,教师要注意语音,及时纠正。然后播放录音,全班同学一起跟读。
3.短文内容巩固练习。教师可将这篇短文改写成小故事,将一些重点的表达方式突出。让学生在规定的时间内补全故事。然后邀请若干同学给出自己的答案。

▲He slept badly and didn't feel like eating.他寝食难安。
feel like doing sth.意为“想要做某事”,同义结构为 “want to do sth.” 和 “would like to do sth.”。如:
He slept badly and didn't feel like eating.
=He slept badly and didn't want to eat.
=He slept badly and wouldn't like to eat.
此外,feel like 还有“感觉像……”的意思。如:
I feel like I want to cry.我感觉想哭。
▲His face was always pale as chalk.他总是面色苍白。
(as) pale as chalk 是一种明喻修辞结构,chalk愿意为“白垩(一种白色石灰岩)”,但翻译成汉语时不可直译,应译为“惨白;苍白”。如:
You look as pale as chalk today.What's wrong? 你今天看起来面色苍白,怎么了?
另外值得注意的是,汉语中描述不健康的人的面部颜色时常用“白”字,如“煞白;苍白;灰白”等等,英语中常用“pale”表达。如:
He suddenly went pale.他突然面色变白。
▲Neither medicine nor rest can help him.药物和休息都不起作用。
neither…nor… 意为“(否定的陈述适用于两方面)既不……,也不……”,在句中连接两个并列成分做主语,谓语动词考虑就近原则,即与最近的名词的单复数保持一致。如:
Neither the TV nor the video actually works.电视机和录像机坏了。
Neither the twins nor their mother has been to the island.那对双胞胎和他们的妈妈都没去过那个岛。
此外, neither…nor…还可以连接两个并列成分做谓语或是表语。如:
I neither knew nor cared what had happened to him.我既不知道也不关心他发生了什么。
Their house is neither big nor small.他们的房子不大也不小。

make作使役动词,意为“使;迫使”,其常用结构如下:
(1)make + sb.+ adj. 意为“使得某人……”如:
The news made him happy.这个消息让他很开心。
可用到的形容词有:happy,pleased,surprised,angry,annoyed,sad,upset,unhappy,worried,anxious,excited,relaxed,stressed out,tense,calm,scared,comfortable,sick…
(2)make + sb.+ do sth.意为“使得某人做某事”(不能带不定式符号to) 。如:
Nothing will make me change my mind.什么也改变不了我的想法。
注意:make sb.do sth.的被动结构是sb.be made to do sth.,意为“某人被迫做某事”。当make 用于被动语态时,必须带不定式符号to。如:
He was made to lie in bed all day.他被迫每天躺在床上。

2.要求学生进行小组讨论,看这个故事是否有其他的结局,完成1b的任务。
3.听第一遍录音,完成课本上1c部分的任务。并要求学生把故事的后半部分内容所发生的事勾选出来。
4.听第二遍录音,回答课本上1d部分所提出的问题。
5.听第三遍录音,并打开听力材料,全班逐句进行跟读。
6.完成1e的任务,首先要求学生讨论这个穷人关于快乐的想法,然后模仿听力内容,分角色表演故事的后半部分。然后邀请2-3对同学当堂演示。看哪一对的表现最佳。

▲The general cannot find a happy person and the king remains unhappy forever.将军没能找到快乐的人,国王永远不快乐。
remain是系动词,意为“仍然;依旧;留”,后面可接名词、代词、形容词、介词短语、分词作表语。
▲The general searched for three days and found a happy person.将军搜寻了三天,找到了一个快乐的人。
search在这里是不及物动词,意为“搜查;调查”。search还可以作及物动词,意为“搜查;搜寻;调查”,其后可跟人、房屋、衣袋等名词或代词作宾语。search的目的物常用for引出,而搜寻的地方常用介词through引出。

Step 3 完成教材2b的任务
【操作案例】
1.要求学生快速默读短文,熟知大意,并找出各段的主题大意并标出事件的正确顺序。然后邀请几位同学给出自己的答案,全班一起检查讨论。

2.先邀请几位同学阅读短文(可一人一段),教师要注意语音,及时纠正。然后播放录音,全班同学一起跟读。
3.短文内容巩固练习。教师可给出一篇改写了的短文,将一些重点的表达方式空出。让学生在规定的时间内补全短文。然后邀请若干同学给出自己的答案,全班一起检查讨论。
设计意图:通过学生反复阅读短文,限时独立完成所给问题,使学生循序渐进地了解文章大意,训练了学生筛选信息的能力。通过感知重要的知识点,培养学生综合语言运用能力,通过深入了解文章,培养学生的全面素质。
Step 4 完成教材2c-2e的任务
【操作案例】
1.让学生再细读短文,回答2c的问题。给出5分钟的时限,然后找5位同学回答问题,并集体核对答案。
2.让学生读2b的短文,找出能替换2d中句子的画线部分的习语或短语。
3.让学生两人一组合作参照2e所给示例,练习彼得与他父亲之间的对话。
设计意图:将听、说、读、写的任务结合起来不仅锻炼了学生的语言综合运用能力,而且巩固了学生对目标语言的学习、识记和运用。

keep one's eyes/an eye on…意为“盯着……;留意……;照看……”。如:

▲How could he have missed scoring that goal? 他怎么能没把球射进呢?
could have done 表示“过去本能够做某事却未做”,包含“责备”之意。如:

How could she have forgotten those good days? 她怎能忘记那段美好的时光呢?
▲He had let his team down.他让整个球队失望了。
let…down 这里表示“让……失望/沮丧”;相当于make …sad/upset。除此之外,还有“放低;放下”之意。如:
In order not to let his parents down,he always makes great efforts to do everything well.为了不让他的父母失望,他总是尽最大努力做好所有事情。
Losing the competition let him down.比赛失败让他很沮丧。
▲But whatever it was,don't be too hard on yourself.但是无论结果是什么,都不要对你自己太苛刻。
be hard on sb.表示“过于严格地要求某人;对某人过于严厉”或“以刻薄的方式批评,对待某人”。如:
Is it good for a teacher to be too hard on her students? 对于一个老师来说,对学生过于严厉有好处吗?
If someone is too hard on you,you should tell him how you feel about it.如果他人对你很严苛,你应该告诉他你的感受。
▲The next day,Peter went to soccer practice with courage rather than fear in his heart.第二天,彼得并没有害怕,而是勇敢地去参加足球训练。
rather than 意为“并非;而不是”,前后为平行结构,即词性和形式保持一致。如:
He likes traveling in spring rather than in winter.他喜欢在春天而不是冬天旅行。
▲We were so close to winning that game.我们差点就赢得了那场比赛。
be close to + n./ doing sth.意为“几乎(处于某种状态);可能(快要做某事)”。如:
Come on! We are so close to reaching the top.加油!我们快到达山顶了。

pull together 是一个常用短语,意为“齐心协力;通力合作”。如:
