1 Presentation and practice
A: Teaching new words.
Guess and say
T:It’s black and hard. We can find it under the ground..It can make us warm .There is a lot of it in Shanxi .What’s it?
Ss: It’s coal.(Show and teach the word.)
T:It’s a kind of black liquid .we can find it under the ground too .Cars need it.What’s it?
Ss: It’s oil.(Show and teach the word)
T:It’s usually white and thin.we write and draw on it.What’s it?
Ss: It’s paper.(read the word)
(2)Look and say
T:(Show a plastic bottle)Look at this water bottle .It’s light and soft .But it’s strong too .It’s a plastic bottle.(Show the word“plastic” and teach it.)
T:What plastic things do you have?
S1:I have a plastic cup.
S2:I have a plastic pencil case.
S3:I have a plastic bag.
S4:I have a plastic toy.

T: Look at your desks and chairs .Are they plastic too?
Ss : No ,they aren’t.
T: Yes.(Show the picture of some wood.)We don’t have plastic desks and chairs. Our desks and chairs are made of wood.(Show the word and teach it.)
B: Teaching new sentence structure.
老师用PPT呈现两组图片,一组是关于上面所学的材料的图片,一组是这些原材料用途的图片。
T: We use water to wash clothes/brush teeth/cook food.
We use coal to make electricity.
We use oil to make gas.
We use paper to make books.
We use plastic to make bags/bottles/toys.
We use wood to make desks/beds/boats.

老师将各种原料和其用途的图片一起呈现。要求学生描述每种材料的用途。学生可以分小组,每个同学一句接龙进行介绍。

Step 3 Reading and understanding.
整体呈现课文
老师播放课文动画,整体呈现课文,让学生了解从四个方面保护地球。
T:How can we protect the Earth?
S1:We can save water.
S2:We can save energy.
S3:we can save tress.
S4:We shouldn’t use too much plastic.
分段学习课文,回答问题。
Ask Ss to listen to the text and answer the questions.
Q:1 What do you think of water?
2 What do we use water to do ?
3 Is there a lot of water everywhere?
4 What shouldn’t we do?
5:What should we do?
2)Ask some students to answer the questions .And teach the new words : useful , waste ,save ,reuse.
3)Ask students to read the second paragraph and judge.

1. T: Now boys and girls, let’s read the story after the tape together, OK?
2. T: Open your books. Listen to the tape, and then follow it.
3. T:Who can read it? Who reads better?
Step 5 Consolidation
1.Read and do the exercise on page70 of the book.

2 连句成段。老师选取课文中的一段,将段内句子打乱,呈现给学生。先要求学生大声朗读句子,再排序句子,反应最快的学生获胜。然后要求学生齐读或尝试复述整段文字。
Step 6 Homework
Read the text after the tape and imitate the pronunciation 5 times .

本课时主授单词,通过PPT猜谜,学生猜出一些地球资源,分别教授单词并讲解资源的用处,用重点句型来造句,学生能明白资源的重要性以及节约资源的重要性,明白我们应节约能源保护地球保护共同的家园。

老师示范朗读例词,请学生边听边体会,找出单词中
共同的读音部分。

T:How to pronounce the sound of “oo”?

B T:Play the tape and ask Ss to read the words and the rhyme after the tape.

(2)Practice (Play a game.)
A 组织学生展开绕口令比赛,在朗读的同时读到含有/u:/的发音时就拍手,看谁读得又快又准。

B 鼓励学生自主归纳整理其他含有字母组合oo并且发音为/u:/的单词。
